LOT 3439
Very Scarce Haeussler Patent Adlerwaffenwerke Semi-Automatic
Pistol - Serial no. 1256, 8 mm cal., 3 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish,
synthetic grips. Developed around 1915, the Haeussler pistol is a straight
blowback semi-automatic using a proprietary 7.25mm cartridge and
a hinged dust cover assembly for easy field stripping and cleaning.
Mechanically, the pistol shows a strong resemblance to the work of Hugo
Borchardt and Georg Luger, especially in the sear and striker assembly, the overall
shape of the frame, and the grip angle. Blade front and notch rear sights, with a tapered barrel, safety switch on the left side of the
frame, and “PATENT HAEUSSLER/ADLERWAFFENWERKE/ENGELBRECHT & WOLFF” on the right side. With a pair of checkered grips with
imprinted eagle designs, and a straw finished trigger. Matching numbers are present on the frame, dust cover, and barrel, with a faint
but possibly matching partial number on the bolt.
CONDITION: Very good, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing a gray patina on the barrel and gripstraps, dings concentrated around the
front sight, shallow pitting around the magazine well and the rear of the frame, and mild handling marks. The grips are fair, with hairline cracks
and mild scuffing. The safety is out of order, otherwise mechanically functions.
Provenance: The Collection of Clive Cussler.
Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500
