The game scenes depict a pair of bull
elephants in a grassy jungle scene on the left
lockplate and a pair of cape buffalo bulls on the right
lockplate with one grazing and the other on high alert. The
rifle features double gold triggers (front articulated), gold plated cocking arms,
cocking indicators, and a tang mounted manual safety. The rifle is fitted with a
beautifully figured and multi-point checkered three-piece forend with engraved
iron and a Deeley type release. The pistol grip stock is also of lovely quality with
horn grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, and a black rubber recoil pad. Length of
pull 15 1/16 inches. Weight 11 lbs. 12 oz. (with scope).
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes
with minor handling evidence, a few minor dings and scratches on the wood,
and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The
scope optics are sharp. This is a great opportunity to own a classic and beautiful
continental dangerous game rifle!

Factory Deep Relief Game Scene Engraved Ludwig Borovnik Over/Under Dangerous
Game Double Rifle in .450 Express with Swarovski Scope - Serial no. 403556, 450
Express cal., 24 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Built with blued Bohler
Rasant steel barrels featuring a ramped beaded blade fore sight, single standing express
rear sight on the raised rear quarter rib which also holds a Swarovski Habicht 3-10x42mm
scope in a set of Talley Lever Lock rings, and four ports at each muzzle. The upper barrel is
engraved “CYRIL S. ADAMS - HOUSTON, TEXAS”, light engraving at the breech, gold plated
ejectors, and 1973 dated Austrian proof marks, and serial number which indicates that the
rifle was completed by the famed firm of Ludwig Borovnik. Cyril Adams was a renowned
American wingshooter, one time owner of London gunmaker Atkin, Grant & Lang, and a
leader in importing European fine arms to America. The barrels are fitted to the coin finished
bolstered sidelock action with double Kersten crossbolts, which displays near full
coverage scroll engraving surrounding a pair of deep relief cut game scenes.
