Wonderful Giuseppe Zacchi Signed Master Engraved and Gold
Inlaid Fratelli Piotti 28 Gauge Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun with
Case - Serial no. 9896, 28 gauge, 29 inch solid rib bbl., blue/brushed bright finish, walnut
stock. Built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on
the hand filed flat tapered solid rib, bands of engraving at the breech, “Flli. PIOTTI ITALY” on the
left tube, import mark on the right tube under the forend, 2004 dated Italian proof marks, and 2 3/4 inch
chambers with extractor. The barrels are fitted to a an exceptionally attractive brushed finished hammer fired
bar-action sidelock action displaying stunning “Majestic” pattern engraving. The design shows wonderfully
executed floral semi-relief scroll engraving erupting from the mouth of a reposed griffin on either lockplate
with the negative space finely etched to nearly black creating a rich depth of field. Both sides of the action
bear “Flli. PIOTTI” in fine gold inlay just below the griffin. The engraving continues onto the toplever and both
tangs, the bottom of which is inlaid with the serial number in gold. The trigger guard displays more scrollwork
surrounding a highly detailed gold inlaid quail. The gun is signed on the triggerplate “ZACCHI” for the highly
regarded Italian Master Engraver Giuseppe Zacchi. The gun feature double triggers, a right hand rolled trigger
guard, and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”. The gun is fitted with a stunning highly figured
and very fine multi-point checkered splinter forend with brushed bright and engraved iron and Anson button
release along with a gold inlaid Piotti crest. The straight grip stock with diamond hand is of the same gorgeous
quality and features “JMG” in the inscription oval and a skip-line checkered bare butt. Includes a gorgeous maker’s
leather flat case containing a nickel oiler and a compliment of cleaning tools. Barrel and stock measurements
(R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed and measured at 14.0 mm (.551 inches); choke constriction .008/.014
inches; minimum wall thickness .021/.023 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/16 inch drop at heel; 14 13/16 inch length of pull;
slight cast-off; weight 5 lbs. 10 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and brushed bright finishes with minimal handling evidence, some
discoloration on the gold serial number, and sharp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine. A great
opportunity to own a classic double barrel with modern styling!

Barrel Hammer Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Case - Serial no.
27694, 12 gauge, 27 5/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin/gold finish,
walnut stock. Built with browned steel barrels featuring a single bead
sight on the smooth concave solid rib with a flourish of scroll at the base,
single gold bands at both the muzzle and breech, front sling stud on under rib, “ARMI FAMARS” marked on
the left tube, import mark under the forend, 1971 dated Italian proof marks, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with
ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the coin finished self-cocking hammer fired action which displays tight
scroll engraving, a gold crown on the toplever, gold borders on the lockplates along with gold “FAMARS”, and
“Famars” on the underside. The engraving is signed “P. Faccoli” on the triggerplate. The gun features rebounding
hammers that automatically lock when the barrels are opened, sculpted oblong shaped fences, double triggers, double rolled trigger guard, and a tang mounted manual
safety with gold inlaid “SAFE” indicator. The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved iron and inlaid FAMARS crest as
well as a straight hand stock with teardrop carved flats, rear sling stud, and a leather covered recoil pad. Included is an extra matching numbered set of 24 13/16 inch
barrels proofed in 1981 with rifle type sights, 2 3/4 inch chambers, and matching gold bands. Also included is a leather flat case, nickel snap caps, and nickel oiler. Barrel
measurements for the extra set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed at 18.4 mm (.724 inches) and measured at .726/.727 inches; choke constriction
.000/.000 inches; minimum wall thickness .033/.030 inches. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed and measured at 18.5 mm (.728
inches); choke constriction .031/.046 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.030 inches; 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 11/16 inch length of pull; slight cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 9 oz.
