Pre-Ban Vero Beach Production Knight’s Manufacturing Co. SR-25 “Match” Semi-Automatic
Rifle - Serial no. 20106, 7.62x51mm NATO (308) cal., 24 inch round bbl., anodized/phosphate finish,
synthetic stock. The included printed email correspondence from Knight’s lists this rifle by serial number as manufactured on January 5, 1993, and sold on
April 13, 1993. Designed in collaboration between C. Reed Knight, Jr. and Eugene Stoner (inventor of the AR-10 and AR-15) in the early 1990s, this is an example of a Vero Beach,
Florida, produced Knight’s Manufacturing Co. (also known as Knight’s Armament Co.) SR-25 semi-automatic “Match” rifle; with these earlier rifles manufactured in the 1990s out
of Knight’s location in Vero Beach, Florida, prior to the company relocating to Titusville, Florida, after c. late 2001. The serial numbers of these Vero Beach production SR-25 rifles
commenced at approximately 20000, with this early production example being serial number 20106. Manufactured without iron sight provisions, featuring a “Match Rifle” upper
receiver assembly with an unthreaded 24 inch target contour match barrel, threaded Picatinny gas block with knurled protective cover for use with the early Knight’s type suppressors, free-floating carbon fiber tube forend, chrome
plated bolt carrier with solid firing pin retaining pin, with “P” and “M” markings along with “DAT58” on the concealed areas of the chrome plated bolt. The lower receiver bears the Knight’s Mfg. Co. logo, “STONER/RIFLE/SR-25” model
designation, and serial number on the left of the magazine well, with the Vero Beach, Florida, manufacturer address on the right of the magazine well. Matching serial numbers on the upper and lower receiver. Early type ejection
port dust cover. “11-12-92” electro-stenciled on the concealed area inside the receiver beneath the rear pin. Fitted with a A2 pattern checkered polymer pistol grip and fixed buttstock with checkered polymer buttplate. Includes a
shipping box with a Knight’s Manufacturing Company Vero Beach shipping label attached addressed to Bob’s in Halley, Idaho, a Gun Guard hard case of the type reportedly used by Knight’s to ship these early SR-25 rifles, and two
correct “waffle” pattern magazines in plastic wrap (one sealed, the other mostly sealed). The consignor indicated something of interest to Knight’s Armament collector’s: the shipping box is the original box from the Gun Guard case
which was turned inside out to hide the markings and reassembled for shipping the rifle, and further states that Lt. Col. David Lutz of Knight’s Armament informed them that he recalled reassembling those boxes in an effort to get
the rifles shipped out.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retains 99% original phosphate and anodized finishes with limited handling evidence. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 4,500 - 7,500
