German Janz-
Prazisionstechnik
Type EM Precision
Double Action
Revolver in .357 Magnum
with Case - Serial no. 0208,
357 Magnum cal., 6 inch solid
rib bbl., black finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured c. 21st century. Janz-Prazisionstechnik GmbH
was initially a parts and components supplier for the fellow
German firm Korth-Ratzeburg, a manufacturer of revolvers more
widely known on the American firearms market, before a series
of bankruptcies suffered by the latter in the 1990s prompted
the former to release its own brand of high-end revolvers starting
in 1997. One of three frame sizes offered by the firm, this specific
revolver, a fixed-caliber Type EM Precision (mid-sized frame)
variation, features an elevation adjustable target blade front and
adjustable top-strap target notch rear sights, an adjustable weight trigger with a silver indicator
with a scale ranging from “-” to “+” indicating the setting, a gold tipped cylinder release latch
located on the right side of the hammer, the matching numbered crane and the cylinder easily
removed via the silver release button on the right side of the frame under the manufacturer’s
address, the stylized “Janz” logo and caliber designation machined into the left side barrel flat,
and an importer mark on the underside of the barrel. Fitted with a pair of finger-groove walnut
grips with a single “triangle/Janz” copper medallion. Includes a Janz wood veneered metal hard
case, a Janz screwdriver with two bits inside the handle, and a manual.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original black finish with a faint cylinder drag
line, clear markings, and attractive wood grain. Mechanically excellent.
The case is exceptionally fine.
Estimate: 6,000 - 9,000
