Massive State of Texas Cowboy Hat Neon Sign - This is a massive and attractive,
vintage neon sign which features the outline of the State of Texas wearing a
cowboy hat. Neon signs first hit the U.S. market in the early 1920s, quickly spreading
across the country and becoming a staple of outdoor advertising, and by the mid-
20th century, many downtowns of American cities were lit up at night with the
unmistakable glow of neon signs. This particular example is full of Texas flavor and
would be a fantastic eye-catching advertisement for a Texas business. The circular
sign has a metal housing with the front face showing red, black, and white decals
and an image of the State of Texas in Texas flag livery and wearing a cowboy hat. The
state and the cowboy hat are both outlined in corresponding neon light tubes. The
housing of the sign measures approximately 48 inches in diameter and 10 3/8 inches
deep. There are four wall mounting brackets attached to the outer housing.
CONDITION: Very fine, showing an attractively aged vintage look overall, a weathered
and aged look on the metal of the outer housing, and some antiqued cracking and
peeling of the decals on the front face. Mechanically excellent. This would be a
fantastic advertising piece for a business or decor piece for a man-cave or gun room!
Estimate: 6,000 - 9,000

Desirable, Large Winchester Illuminated Neon Sign
Advertisement - For much of the 20th century, the downtown
districts of most American cities were illuminated at night by the
unmistakable, colorful glow of neon light. From their introduction in
the early 1920s, neon signs were an eye-catching way for businesses
to continue their advertising through the night, allowing their signs
to be seen for miles around. This particular example is no exception,
being a Winchester advertisement that no passerby could miss.
The front face on this example is vinyl covered, showing wood
grain and weathered looking text, creating the attractive illusion of
a vintage wood and metal sign. The text reads “Winchester Rifles
and Ammunition For Sale Here” and is all outlined in neon lights
of various colors, with the “For Sale Here” text flashing on and off,
beckoning potential customers inside. Amongst the text is the
outline of a Winchester Model 1873 rifle, also outlined in neon lights.
The metal housing for this light measures 32 x 60 x 5 inches.
CONDITION: Excellent, with the vinyl display complete showing
almost no wear or fading and the housing showing only the slightest
handling/storage wear. Mechanically functions as it should with all
of the neon illuminated and bright. This would be a fantastic, eye-
catching addition to a firearms shop or gun room!
Estimate: 11,000 - 16,000
