CONDITION: Excellent. 95% plus original blue finish remains with small areas of edge wear, faint traces of light pitting under the blue on the barrel, small scratches, and some mild cycling marks on the receiver rails. The refinished wood is very fine with sharp checkering, attractive figure, some small dings, and light edge wear on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

Very Fine Winchester Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle in .22 Long with Desirable Casehardened Receiver and Factory Letter - Serial no. 84666, 22 L cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1900. The factory letter confirms the .22 Long chambering and states the rifle was received in the warehouse on March 31, 1900 and shipped on April
2, 1900. Beaded blade front an elevation adjustable rear notch sights, second style barrel inscription, Winchester WP proofs correctly absent, “22 LONG.” caliber marking on top barrel flat at the breech, casehardened second model
receiver with hidden locking lugs, blue breech bolt and trigger, casehardened hammer, and standard maker, model, and
patent marking on the upper tang. 12 groove slide handle and plain walnut straight grip stock with casehardened steel crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel has 95% professionally restored blue finish with some light pitting visible under the blue, small dings, and some light edge wear. The receiver has 85% original vivid case colors with a patch of dark patina on the left side, thin layer of protective varnish, and mostly gray patina on the tangs. The wood is also excellent with some small dings, and mixed gray patina and traces of original case colors on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000

Single nickel bead sight, Winchester counterbored smooth bore barrel, second style barrel inscription, Winchester “WP” proofs on barrel and receiver at the breech, matching numbers on the receiver and trigger guard assembly,
serrated trigger and hammer catch, and non-drilled upper tang. 17 groove slide handle and smooth pistol grip stock with checkered blue steel buttplate.

Rare, Special Order Winchester Deluxe Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle in .22 Short with Factory Letter - Serial no. 84772, 22 RF Short cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, highly figured checkered walnut pistol grip stock. Manufactured in 1900 . The factory letter lists the rifle with a checkered pistol grip stock and chambered in .22 Short when received in the warehouse on July 20, 1900 and shipped the next day. at the breech, single Winchester “WP” proof on top of the receiver (an indication it was returned to the factory
at some point as this proof did not come into use until 1908), Second Model receiver with hidden locking lugs,
standard model and trademark markings on upper tang with a Lyman flip up peep sight, and checkered hammer. Short 12 groove slide handle and attractively figured XXX American black walnut, checkered pistol grip stock with Winchester hard rubber grip cap and casehardened steel crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked “376” followed by “XXX” and the butt end of the stock and plate are marked with non-matching assembly number “11957” indicating the wood may be a factory upgrade or replacement. CONDITION: Very fine with 85% bright blue finish remaining, some faint traces of blued over pitting, small dents and dings on the barrel, scratches, and some brown patina on the magazine tube. The wood is also very fine with attractive complex figure, small dings, and mildly worn checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500
