Unique Unmarked and Unserialized Confederate Rigdon, Ansley & Co. Percussion Revolver - NSN, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch part octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This rare Confederate Rigdon, Ansley, & Co. Model 1851 Navy style revolver has a 12-stop cylinder that has been period modified with half of the original rectangular stops neatly ground down, and a 7 1/2 inch part round/part octagon Dragoon style barrel. According to consignor notes, this example is one of two known unmarked and unserialized. Rigdon, Ansley & Co. manufactured approximately 1,000 high quality Model 1851 Navy style revolvers at Augusta, Georgia in 1864-1865 following the dissolution of the Leech and Rigdon Company. The revolver has a cone front sight, Colt style loading lever, iron frame with wide capping cut-out, hammer with knurled spur, brass oval trigger guard, brass back strap and one-piece walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good, exhibiting signs of genuine period Confederate use. Retains strong traces of original blue finish in the protected areas of the bottom of the barrel with brown patina and some scattered patches of light to moderate pitting. Period modified cylinder stops as mentioned above. Brass exhibits an attractive bright aged patina. Grip is good as lightly sanded and re-oiled with some light scratches, scattered light handling marks, a crack at the top of the left panel, a small chip at the bottom
