Collector’s Grouping of Three Western
Architecture Prints by L.A. Huffman -
The grouping contains three large prints
by L.A. Huffman, all featuring architecture
and daily life from the frontier in Montana.
The first features a grouping of cabins/
shacks and people and is labeled in black
ink “FIRST SHACK, 10th ST. MILES TOWN 1877” along with Huffman’s copyright (17 1/4 x
12 1/4 inches). The second shows a corral of horses in the foreground and a small house in the background and is marked “Wills Spears forty mile Ranch, near Lodge Grass” with Huffman’s copyright, all in black ink, in Huffman’s hand (10 x 16 inches). The last is lightly colorized and shows a log bridge across a mostly dried up river with a mule cart in the foreground and is marked “The Old Log Bridge, Main St 1880” along with Huffman’s copyright, all in white ink (11 x 20 1/2 inches) Laton Alton Huffman (1854- 1931) is famous for his photography of Montana life, including Native Americans, the landscape, wildlife, and ranching. Many of his prints were later colorized and enlarged.
CONDITION: All are fine or better with distinct images some scattered light staining and some scattered light tears in the edges. Estimate: 1,000 - 1,600
