London Retailer Inscribed and Cased Colt New
Line .22 Etched Panel Spur Trigger Revolver - Serial
no. 50081, 22 RF cal., 2 1/4 inch slab sided bbl., nickel
finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured in 1877, the
top of the barrel having the standard two-line Colt
address, the patent date on the bottom, and the
desirable “COLT NEW 22” etched panel on the left.
“22CAL” is marked on the left of the frame and there are
small British proofs on the bottom of the barrel and cylinder. The full serial number is on the butt, “0081” on the bottom of the barrel, and “0881” on the rear face of the cylinder, which is likely a factory error. The top strap is engraved “COGSWELL
& HARRISON/226.STRAND.LONDON. Includes a leather wrapped case with the interior lining of the lid marked with the Cogswell & Harrison address, and eight .22 RF cartridges.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% of the original nickel finish with some
scattered minor flaking, primarily in a patch on the right of the barrel and
on the cylinder, and some light edge wear on the frame. The grips are very
good with some scattered minor dings. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some minor handling/storage marks scattered throughout and mild wear.
LOT 114
Excellent Early Production Colt New Line .32 Spur Trigger Revolver with Scarce Factory Box -
Serial no. 1196, 32 RF cal., 2 1/4 inch round bbl., nickel finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured in 1873, the standard two-line Colt address flanked by Maltese crosses on top of the barrel and “32CAL”
on the frame. The full serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame, left of the barrel, and faintly inside each grip in ink, while “196” is marked on the rear face of the cylinder. It
is fitted with smooth rosewood grips. Includes a scarce factory box marked for “COLT’S/ New Five Shot Revolver”.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original nickel finish with a few scattered
patches of minor flaking revealing a mostly smooth grey patina. The grips are fine with some minor scuffing/chipping
on the right panel and otherwise scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is good with
extensive wear and some tape repairs.

with Case - Serial no. 48333, 22 RF cal., 2 1/4 inch slab sided bbl., nickel finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured in 1877, the top of the barrel
having the standard two-line Colt address, the patent date on the bottom, and the desirable
“COLT NEW 22” etched panel on the left. “22CAL” is marked on the left of the frame
and there are small British proofs on the bottom of the barrel and cylinder. The full
serial number is on the butt, “9333” on the bottom of the barrel (likely a factory
error), and “8333” on the rear face of the cylinder. The back strap is engraved
with the E.M. Reilly & Co. London address. Includes an oak case with a Colt London Agency style label
inside the lid, a cleaning rod, and an informational plaque.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% of the original nickel finish with some scattered light
patches of flaking on the cylinder and a crisp etched panel. The grips are also very fine with some scattered light handling marks
and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some scattered light handling/storage wear.
