Game Scene Engraved Wheellock Sporting Rifle with
Scrimshaw Inlaid Stock - NSN, 50 cal., 21 5/8 inch octagon bbl., bright finish, hardwood stock. The swamped barrel has eight-groove rifling, a
brass blade front sight, notch rear sight, and some decorative engraved
bands. The lock has a floral pattern pierced wheel cover, mask designs on the
pan cover button and dog stirrup, and an engraved scene of a hunter and his dog
pursuing a stag and hind in a wooded scene. The rifle has adjustable double set triggers. The
Victorian era replacement stock has decorative bone and staghorn inlays engraved with floral patterns, a stag on the cheekpiece, a dog on the right, and a rabbit on the patchbox lid. The ramrod has a matching engraved tip. The buttplate and part of the cheekpiece trim are horn.
CONDITION: Very good with silver-gray patina on the barrel and trigger guard, mottled gray patina on the lock, moderate pitting, and general mild overall wear. The restored stock has several spliced repairs, mixed scrimshaw accents, some cracks, and general moderate wear. The lock has not been tested. The triggers are mechanically fine.

  is also signed “J.G.D.” ahead of the pan and has scroll engraving throughout and a castle scene on the dog spring stirrup. The furniture is brass and has scroll engraving, including on the large side plate. The stock has some staghorn, bone, and
pearl inlays on the butt and a horn buttplate. The
patchbox lid has some floral carving. An iron spanner is included. CONDITION: Very good with silver-gray patina on the lock and barrel
along with some areas of brown patina and minor oxidation, aged patina on
the brass, replacement parts, and general mild overall wear. The stock is also very good and has some cracks, chips, and repairs; an ill-fitting replacement patchbox lid, and mild scratches and dings. The lock has not been tested. The set triggers are mechanically fine.

 Panel Scene Engraved German Wheellock Sporting Rifle - NSN, 55 cal.,
30 1/2 inch octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This rifle has a swamped, seven-groove rifled barrel has a dovetailed silver blade front sight, notch and folding leaf rear sight with ornate finial, Paul Ignazius Poser’s “PIP/stag” maker’s mark
(second quarter of the 18th century), beaded border at the breech, and a “Z” on the short tang. The lock has a detailed scene of two hunters talking with a tree to their rear and a rock face ahead with a fleeing ibex. The bottom of the rocks is signed “J N Hund.” The lock
