World War I Mauser “Red Nine” Broomhandle Semi-
Automatic Pistol with Matching Shoulder Stock and Leather Harness - Serial no. 91490,
9 mm cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured 1916-1918. Blade front and 500-meter tangent rear sights, with the three-line address on the top chamber flat,
“crown/gothic letter” military proof on the right chamber flat, “crown/crown/U” on the chamber and bolt, “Imperial eagle” on the front of the magazine well on the frame,
and the two-line address on the right side of the frame. External numbers are matching overall with a New Safety hammer, slotted back strap, and matching numbered 24-groove grips with a branded and red-filled “9” on each panel. Included with the pistol is a shoulder stock with matching number stamped on the iron, a leather harness stamped “1917” and “BAXII 17”, and a wood handled cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, 80% of the original niter blue, showing areas of brown and gray patina, bright edge wear, and mild handling marks overall. The grips are very fine, with a few light nicks and scratches in the ribbing. A small crack is visible in the otherwise fine stock near the lid catch button, with some light cleaning on the wood and a mixed brown and gray patina on the iron. Mild scuffs and stains are present on the otherwise very fine harness, with some cracking on the retention strap. Mechanically excellent.

Antique Mauser Model 1896 Cone
Hammer Broomhandle Pistol with
Matching Numbered Shoulder Stock
- Serial no. 11641, 7.63 mm Mauser auto
cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood
grips. Manufactured about 1897. Blade front and 500 meter tangent rear sights, with the top of the chamber marked
“WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N”, the left side is marked with a “crown/ crown/U” German test proof, and an Oberndorf antler proof on the right flat. Matching
numbers are present on the frame, hammer, bolt, follower, floorplate, and the ribbed grip panels. With a hardwood shoulder stock, numbered to match the pistol on the
blued mounting iron.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 85% of the original blue finish, showing a streak of gray patina on the
left side near the rear milled panel, bright edge wear, minor spotting and light handling marks. 80% original
niter blue remains on the small parts, and 75% original straw on the trigger. The grips are fine, with some light dings, and the otherwise fine stock shows a number of scuffs and dents, and tool marks/filing on the iron. Mechanically excellent.
