Excellent World War I U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-
Automatic Pistol with Factory Letter - Serial no.
163784, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1917 and shipped to Springfield
Armory on 28 June 1917, well before the end of World
War I. The left of the slide is marked with the two-line, two-block patent dates and address with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, while the right has the standard “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY” marking. The left of the frame has the U.S. property marking and “GHS” inspection mark and the serial number is on the right. The full blued barrel is marked “P/H” on the chamber hood and “D” on the bottom in front of the lug. Wide checkered hammer, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, diamond pattern checkered grips, and a “B” marked two-tone magazine. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) as well as the previously mentioned shipment information. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% of the original blue finish with some slight thinning on the grip straps, a few scattered light handling marks, and a light takedown mark on the left of the frame. The grips are also
excellent with a few scattered light blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

World War II U.S. Ithaca Model 1911A1 Semi-
Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 1208946, 45 ACP cal.,
5 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, plastic grips.
Manufactured in 1943, the left side of the slide marked
with the standard two-line Ithaca address, “P” on top, and the model
designation and U.S. army markings on the right. The left of the frame as the “FJA” inspection mark and “P” below the magazine release, while the right side of the frame has the U.S. property markings, serial number, and model designation, as well as “7” on the trigger guard. The barrel has a non-factory polished chamber hood and is marked “HS” and “P” on the lug. Serrated slide release and thumb safety, narrow checkered
hammer, short grip safety, stamped trigger, checkered Keyes
Fiber grips, and an unmarked full blue magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% plus of the original
parkerized finish with the balance having thinned to a
smooth grey patina, primarily on the grip straps and in the
form of light holster wear, and a minor takedown mark on
the left of the frame. The grips are also very fine with a few
scattered light blemishes and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Shipped World War I U.S. Colt
Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol -
Serial no. 233138, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue
finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1918, this pistol was
part of a 1,600 piece group shipped to the Brooklyn Navy
Yard on 11 February 1918. The left side of the slide has
the standard two-line, two-block patent dates and address
with the Rampant Colt between, while the right side has the
standard “MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY” address, as typical of
these later production navy shipped pistols. The U.S. property
marking is on the
left of the frame
along with the
“JMG” inspector’s
mark, and the
serial number is
on the right. The
blued barrel is
marked “P/H” on the chamber hood, “5” on the bottom in front of the lug, and “D” on the left of the lug. Checkered slide release, thumb safety, and wide hammer, short grip safety, long smooth trigger, a pair of diamond pattern checkered grips, and an unmarked two-tone magazine.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% of the original blue finish with the gripstraps and triggerguard having thinned to a smooth grey patina, primarily on high spots and the grip straps. The grips are very fine with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

5943, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
in 1918. Fixed sights, with the three-line, two-block
patent and address markings flanking the circled “REMINGTON/UMC” logo on the left side and “MODEL OF 1911/U.S. ARMY CALIBER .45” on the right. “E.E.C.” inspected frame, with “E” and “29” on the trigger guard. Checkered grips with diamond patterns around the screws, “P” barrel, long smooth trigger, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, and flat
mainspring housing
with lanyard
staple. Includes an
unmarked two-tone
magazine.
CONDITION: Very
fine as professionally restored showing most of the dark blue with light handling marks and edge wear overall. The grips are good with a crack in the bottom of the left panel and mild dents and verdigris. Mechanically excellent.

U.S. Ithaca Gun Company Model 1911A1 Cutaway Pistol - Serial no. 879584, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, brown plastic checkered grips. Manufactured in 1943 and professionally modified into a cutaway pistol. The slide is marked “ITHACA GUN CO. INC. ITHACA N.Y.” on the left and “P” proof in front of the rear sight. The left side of the frame is marked “FJA” for U.S. inspector Frank J. Atwood and a “P” proof next to the magazine catch release button. The right side of the frame and slide are where all the cutaway openings were made and consequently portions of the actual factory markings have been removed. There are three cuts on the slide. The frame has five openings. The serial number and first part of the “UNITED STATES PROP” is still intact as are the last two letters of the U.S. Army markings. It has a mix of mid-war production components like the serrated slide stop and thumb safety, long grip safety, narrow hammer and checkered, and arched mainspring housing with the stamped steel trigger. The one grip is the correct wartime version manufactured by the “Keyes- Fibre” company that has a single five pointed star with a “K” inside, and a single mold number; the other grip has been cut away in this area. With one blued WWII magazine that has the single letter “L” on the front of the lip. CONDITION: Very good as professionally refinished and cutaway. The various openings have all been highlighted in red paint as you would expect. The grips are also in excellent condition. Mechanically excellent.
