Extremely Fine Antique Engraved English 4 Bore Single Barrel Rotary-Underlever Hammer Duck Shotgun - Serial no. 7555, 4 bore gauge, 42 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This magnificent wildfowling gun features a tapering round blued barrel engraved “J & W. TOLLEY. GUNMAKER TO HM SHAH OF PERSIA. HM THE KING OF PORTUGAL. 18. LOVEDAY STREET, BIRMINGHAM AND 69. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON”
and with bead front sight, notch rear sight, short sighting flat at the breech end
finely engraved with scrollwork, and struck with Birmingham “Not For Ball” black powder proof
marks (in use 1875-1887). Border and scroll engraved action with carved percussion fence and non- ebounding back action lock engraved “J&W. TOLLEY”. Finely figured 15 1/2 inch pistol grip stock including
spacer and orange rubber heel plate, the grip and forearm checkered. The forearm with large dark cap, the
butt with blank silver shie shaped initial escutcheon on the underside and iron sling eye, the corresponding sling eye mounted beneath the barrel.
Weight 14 lbs. 10 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine. This fine English duck gun has been professionally restored to an extremely high standard and retains nearly all its renewed finish. The engraving is crisp
throughout, the blued finish to the barrel is a deep color, and the casehardened finish is bright with bold patterns. There are corrosion spots beneath the barrel finish running beneath the edges of the forearm wood. The gun has been restocked with
a magnificent stock blank and has been finished and fitted to a very high standard. The “Tolley” name and details have been added at the same time as the gun was restored. Mechanically excellent. A rare opportunity to acquire a 140 year old wildfowling gun in “as new” condition! Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.

Fine Antique Engraved Agnew & Son 4 Bore Single Barrel Rotary-Underlever Hammer Duck Shotgun - Serial no. 5232, 4 bore gauge, 44 7/8 inch round bbl., brown/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This fine English wildfowling gun has a tapering round browned Damascus barrel signed “AGNEW & SON (LATE PHILIP HAST) MAKER. COLCHESTER” and with bead front sight and struck with Birmingham “Not For Ball” black powder proof marks (in use 1875-1887). Border and scroll engraved action with carved percussion fence and rebounding back action lock signed “AGNEW & SON”. Figured 13 3/4 inch pistol grip stock including spacers and orange rubber heel plate, the grip and forearm checkered. The forearm with large horn cap, the butt with plugged lanyard piercing and a small blank white metal oval initial escutcheon on the underside. Weight 13 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel retains 90% older re-browned finish with a well-defined Damascus pattern and clear barrel signature. Action retaining 90% original casehardened finish with some age related fading to grey, the lock with around 50% original casehardened finish, engraving clear to both. Stock has been cleaned and re-oiled, checkering well-defined with some slight age related wear, some storage and handling blemishes and marks throughout, darkened patches behind the action from age related oil soak. Trigger guard tang screws standing slightly proud. The filled piercing on the butt indicates that at some time during the gun’s working life it was used tied to a punt. Mechanically excellent. on the underside. Weight 12 lbs. 3 oz. CONDITION: Fine. The barrels retain 98% rebrowned finish and have an attractive Damascus pattern, and some scattered storage
and handling marks and blemishes. The engraving at the breech end and on the rib is clear. The rib has a small insert disc where it is engraved with the duck. Action and locks are bright with clear engraving and some minor age related wear and discoloration. Stock has been re-oiled and retains well-defined checkering, scattered minor storage and handling marks and bruises throughout. Mechanically very good. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection. Fine Antique Engraved Warrell 8 Bore Double Barrel Rotary- Underlever Hammer Duck Shotgun - Serial no. 23810, 8 Bore gauge, 35 inch solid rib bbl., brown/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Sheriff Warrell is recorded as a gunmaker in Portsmouth on the south coast of England from 1864 until circa 1886 when his son joined his
business. The lack of “Not For Ball” proof marks indicates this gun pre-dates 1875. With browned Damascus barrels each
engraved with scrollwork at the breech end and with concave rib between signed “S. WARRELL. PORTSMOUTH” towards the breech and engraved with
further scrollwork and a duck in flight and fitted with a bead front sight. Birmingham black powder proof marks and 1991 reproof marks. Border and scroll engraved action
