Extraordinary Exhibition Quality Arnold Griebel Signed, Master Custom Engraved,
and Gold Inlaid Winchester 16 Gauge Model 21 “Deluxe Skeet” Double Barrel Shotgun
Two Barrel Set with Case - Serial no. 13871, 16 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/gold finish,
fancy checkered walnut stock. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with a dual bead sights on the
matted vent rib, chokes marked “MOD”/”IMP- MOD”, chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors, and 2 1/4 inch wedges of scrollwork at either breech. The blued action displays floral scroll engraving surrounding four wonderfully cut game scenes as well as
“DELUXE/SKEET” on the underside. The left side shows a pointer flushing a pair of quail, the
right side has a setter flushing a pair of grouse,
the underside shows a bust of a retriever with a
and the trigger guard has a single pheasant. All
are rendered in highly detailed relief gold inlay for the animals over
fine backgrounds. The work is signed just ahead of the trigger guard “ENGR BY A. GRIEBEL” for well-respected engraver Arnold
Griebel. The gun features a single selective trigger and tang mounted safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings
and pistol grip stock with Winchester grip cap and red rubber recoil pad. Includes a second matching numbered and engraved 16 gauge barrel set which measures 26 inches and features chokes
marked “WS-1”/”WS-2” (skeet 1/skeet 2) and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. Also includes a takedown case that houses
the entire set. Barrel measurements for the skeet set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .672/.669 inches; choke constriction .003/.008 inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.026 inches. Barrel and stock measurements for the primary set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .671/.671 inches; choke constriction .010/.014 inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.025 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 6 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall as master custom engraved, retaining 90% blue finish with thinning of finish on the upper and lower tangs, 99% gold, light handling evidence, areas of varnish rubbing/wear, and crisp checkering on the wood. The case and extra barrel set are also very fine. Mechanically excellent.
