The top of the barrel is presentation engraved “Saml Colt” in the Old English lettering. his trademark wolf’s head motif on the sides
of the hammer. In addition to the Old English Colt legend engraved on the top of the barrel, the left side of the frame has “COLTS/PATENT” engraved in two lines in a rectangle bordered by scrollwork. A punch mark that indicates factory special finish and handling is stamped next to the serial numbers on the barrel, frame and back strap. The full serial number is stamped on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder.
