Elaborate German Black Forest Hunting Themed Cuckoo Clock - Beautifully crafted hunting themed cuckoo clock very likely originating from Germany’s
Black Forest region in the south. The clock face shows a wolf and a roe buck hanging, a brace of game birds
over a hunting bag at the bottom, a German hunting horn wrapped around the clock face, oak leaf designs, a pair of percussion rifles crossed towards the top, and a
red stag mount on the top. Includes a pair of (likely brass) pine cone weights.
CONDITION: Very good. Both of the stag’s antlers have been repaired at the base and some of the individual tines as well
as the left ear. There are few scuffs and chips on the face with scattered small repairs throughout. Mechanically untested.

Elaborate Janus Schindler, Chiseled, and Relief Carved Percussion Sporting Rifle - NSN, 62 cal., 29 3/4 inch octagon bbl., blue/bright finish, walnut stock. Janus Schindler of Brun is listed in “Der Neue Stockel” by Heer as active around 1780. The barrel has eight-groove rifling, a blade front sight, notch rear sight with four folding leaves, “Janus Schindler in Brun” etched among scrolls on
top in the breech section, and a floral engraved breech plug. The lock has elaborate Rococo scroll patterns as does the most of the furniture. The trigger guard bow has a group of classic arms and armor. The iron ramrod ferrules have an attractive twist design. The wrist has a slot for a peep sight and a silver escutcheon inscribed with script initials (the first appears to be “G”, and the second is “S”). It is equipped with adjustable double set triggers. The stock has a horn forend cap, raised scroll and floral carving, checkering on the wrist, pierced iron scroll inlay on the cheek piece and toe, and a wooden patch box with coordinating fittings. “8” is marked in the patch box compartment in pencil. CONDITION: Very good with half of the refinished brown on the barrel, light gray patina on the remaining metal, some mild pitting, crisp engraving, and general mild wear. The stock is very good and has crisp checkering and carving, a small chip below the hammer, and general mild scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine.
