Exceptional World War I U.S. Colt
Model 1911 Semi- Automatic Pistol with Holster and Extra Magazines - Serial no. 178183, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
in 1917 and shipped
to Springfield Armory
on 6 September 1917,
well before the end of
World War I. The left of
the slide is marked with
the two-line, two-block
patent dates and address
with the Rampant Colt
behind the serrations,
while the right has the standard “MODEL OF 1911
U.S. ARMY” marking. The left of the frame has the U.S.
property marking and “GHS” inspection mark and the
serial number is on the right. The full blued barrel is
marked “P/H” on the chamber hood and “D” on the bottom in front of the lug. Fitted with blade and notch sights, wide checkered hammer, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, diamond pattern checkered grips, and an unmarked two-tone magazine. Includes a U.S. “G&K/1918/A.G” marked leather holster, a canvas dual- magazine pouch, and two extra magazines.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned slightly to s smooth grey patina, most noticeably on the grip straps and in the form of light holster wear. The grips are very fine with some minor chipping around the screws, a few scattered minor handling marks, and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster and magazine pouch are fine with some
mild wear.

ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1917 and shipped to Springfield
Armory on 6 September 1917, well before the end
of World War I. The left of the slide is marked with
the two-line, two-block patent dates and address
with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, while
the right has the standard “MODEL OF 1911 U.S.
ARMY” marking. The left of the frame has the U.S.
property marking and “GHS” inspection mark and
the serial number is on the right. The full blued
barrel is marked “P/H” on the chamber hood and
“D” on the bottom in front of the lug. Fitted with
blade and notch sights, wide checkered hammer,
long smooth trigger, short grip safety, diamond pattern
checkered grips, and an unmarked two-tone magazine.
The included factory letter confirms the current
configuration (grips not listed) as well as the previously
mentioned shipment information.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on the grip straps and some edges, and a light takedown mark on the left of the frame. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

no. 1044269, 45 ACP cal., 5
inch round bbl., parkerized
finish, plastic grips. In May of 1942 the U.S. government initially
placed an order with Union Switch & Signal Co. for 200,000 Model
1911A1 pistols, an order which was later revised to 55,000 pistols.
This pistol was likely manufactured early to mid-1943. The slide is
marked with the “USS” monogram and “U.S. & S. CO./SWISSVALE, PA. U.S.A.” on the
left side, with a Robert Downie “R.C.D.” on the left of the frame, and standard U.S. government nomenclature on the right. The full blue barrel is marked “HS” and “P” on
the lug. It is fitted with blade and notch sights, thin checkered hammer, short stamped trigger, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing with lanyard loop, Keyes Fiber checkered grips (one has grip screw escutcheons, the other doesn’t), and a full blue “S” marked magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, the slide retains 97% plus of the original parkerized finish with a few small patches of light pitting/oxidation on the front right and
some light edge wear. The frame retains 95% plus of the factory
presentation blue finish with some light edge wear. The grips are
very fine with a few scattered minor blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

no. 1119149, 45 ACP cal.,
5 inch round bbl., parkerized
finish, brown plastic checkered
grips. This is an excellent WWII
U.S. Model 1911A1 pistol that
was manufactured by Colt in
1943. The left side of the slide
is marked with the two-line
block 1897-1913 patent dates,
the Rampant Colt trademark
and “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./
HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”, with the
“P” firing proof stamped on the
top in front of the rear sight.
The right side of the receiver
has the Ordnance escutcheon stamped behind the grip panel with
“UNITED STATES PROPERTY” over the serial number, with “M1911A1
U.S.ARMY” is stamped in front of the slide stop hole. The left side of
the frame has the U.S. Army Ordnance final inspection mark “G.H.D.”
below the slide stop and a “P” proof mark is stamped behind the
magazine release. The barrel is a correct Colt version stamped
“COLT 45 AUTO” along with a “P” proof, both on the left side of the barrel lug. It is fitted with the correct WWII parts: stamped trigger with knurled face, checkered slide stop and thumb safety, with an arched mainspring housing with coarse checkering and a checkered wide spur hammer. The grips have the wide reinforcing rings around the screws and interior strengthening rib and mold numbers. The slide is correctly numbered (1119/149) above and below the firing pin hole. The feed ramp has the polished face. This pistol is furnished with one WWII blued magazine marked “L” on the lip, and it is complete with two brand new US GI magazines, as manufactured in 1980 that are still in the wrappers and one original WWII leather holster marked on the back, “S&R/J.P.C.”.
CONDITION: Excellent with 97% plus of the original parkerized finish with just a hint of high spot wear on the front end of the slide. The grips are also excellent. Some cycling wear is apparent on the top of the barrel as well as on the forward lower slide. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with a nice medium brown color overall with clear sharp markings and tight stitching overall.
