Vietnam Era Ithaca Model 37 Slide Action Trench Shotgun - Serial no. 862973, 12 gauge, 20 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1963. 1960s manufactured Ithaca Model 37 military shotguns were intended to supplement the U.S. government’s then-dwindling stockpile of World War II surplus riot and trench shotguns, which were in
high demand in the jungles of Vietnam. Some of these shotguns are said to have been given to local police departments during the Vietnam protests and riots. This example has no “U.S.” markings. “33” stamped and also painted in white letters on the butt of the pistol grip. Single brass bead sight (absent), with a 2 3/4 inch chamber and modified choke. Fitted with a 16-groove
forearm and smooth pistol grip stock with serrated plastic buttplate. 14 inch length of pull. Includes olive drab green canvas sling. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% original matte gray parkerized finish with light cycling wear visible on the magazine tube and scattered light handling marks. Stock is very good with defined edges, numerous scattered light scratches mostly concentrated on the buttstock, a chip of wood missing behind the left of the trigger guard, stamped and painted letters as mentioned above, and crisp grasping grooves in the forearm. World War II U.S. Remington Model 1903A4 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Weaver M73B1 Scope - Serial no. 4993174, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. The original iron sights are properly absent as standard on these sniper variants, with a Remington “12-43” dated barrel, “R” marked bolt with properly turned and contoured handle, and the properly offset manufacturer, model and serial number markings on the receiver ring. Smooth pistol grip scant stock, “RA” (Remington Arms) inspection stamp ahead of a crossed cannons cartouche on the left wrist, with a checkered blue steel buttplate. The included Weaver M73B1 scope is electro-stencil numbered “35662” on the data plate, and mounted on a parkerized Redfield scope base. CONDITION: Very fine as arsenal refurbished, retaining 98% parkerized finish with a few patches of light pitting on the bolt, and some light handling marks. Stock is fine as re-oiled, with a few light dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Included scope is excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish with crisp and clear optics. Pre-World War I U.S. Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet - Serial no. 584979, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The receiver is roll marked with the five-line, standard Springfield Armory markings, and the top of the barrel is stamped “S.A.” above the Ordnance shell and flame insignia and the date “9-14”. It is fitted with a walnut “S” style stock that has a single reinforcing bolt, high hump handguard with proper rear sight clearance cut and spring clips, and checkered steel buttplate with compartment. The rifle has a serrated trigger, dished windage and elevation knob, and rear sight leaf with the 2,850 yard notch. “H” marked on
the bayonet lug, “I” marked on the right of the rear bolt lug, the left stock wrist is stamped with the Ordnance final inspection initials
“J.F.C” in a rectangle, a small “H” above a triangle in the cutoff recess, and a small “15” above a circled script “P” firing proof and initials “J.B.O.” stamped behind the trigger guard. Includes a “1914” dated Springfield M1905 bayonet, “1917” dated Brauer Bros. tan canvas scabbard, “1918” dated M1907 leather sling, and oiler inside the butt compartment. CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% original blue finish with some areas lightly thinning, and otherwise sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. 60% arsenal applied blue finish remains on the replacement bolt. Stock is very fine with crisp grasping grooves, defined edges, a few light scratches and handling marks, some areas of slight finish discoloration, a hairline crack visible behind the receiver, initials behind the trigger guard area as mentioned above, and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent. Included bayonet and scabbard are both fine. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000
LOT 1497 World War II U.S. Winchester M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine - Serial no. 1177312, 30 Carbine cal., 18 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1944. Blade front and “S” marked two position flip-up rear sight, undated Winchester “W” barrel, Type I barrel band, “W” milled trigger housing, “EW” push button safety, “W” magazine catch, “W” hammer, “W” operating rod and “W” blued flat top bolt. High wood stock, “W.R.A./G.H.D.” and crossed cannons stamped on the right of the buttstock, and “W” two-rivet handguard. Includes oiler and tan canvas sling. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 97% applied blue finish over the parkerized finish with some light pitting visible on the operating rod handle. Stock is also very fine with defined edges,
some light handling marks, and crisp stampings. Mechanically excellent.
