Griffin & Howe Custom Upgraded Winchester
Model 70 Rifle in .338 Winchester Magnum with
Swarovski Scope - Serial no. 556035, 338 Win magnum cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Originally a 1962 manufactured Winchester Model 70 action subsequently
upgraded by Griffin & Howe in 1968. Blued barrel with ramped beaded blade front sight and marked “No. 2542 GRIFFIN & HOWE NEW YORK. N.Y.” The action features the original
serial number, a Winchester “WP” proof, and a Griffin & Howe scope mount holding a Swarovski Habicht 3-12x50 scope. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with horn tip, blued steel grip cap, raised cheekpiece, sling studs, silver “MF” marked inscription oval, and Galazan rubber recoil pad.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% Griffin & Howe applied finish with some browning around the barrel marking and light handling evidence. The wood is fine, with a few deep scratches and dings, primarily around the action, and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with crisp optics and clear reticle.

Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 71713, 270
Win cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
between 1944 and 1948. Ramped beaded blade front and flip up two leaf rear sights, “No. 1911 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK” marked barrel, standard Winchester markings on the receiver, Griffin & Howe side mounted scope base with J. Unertl Hawk scope, jeweled bolt and follower, and knurled bolt handle knob. The floor plate and trigger guard are finely engraved in the style of J. Fuggar with field scenes of deer with detailed backgrounds and borders of fine flowing scroll. Checkered pistol grip stock with horn forend cap, engraved blue steel grip cap, raised cheekpiece, and checkered steel buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine as embellished and refurbished by Griffin & Howe with 95% plus high quality blue finish remains with some light handling marks overall. The stock is also very fine with well-defined checkering, some scattered small dings, and mild edge wear on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. Scope is very good with some mild wear on the exterior and clear optics.

rear. Attractively figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with horn tip and grip cap, raised cheekpiece, sling studs, and steel trapdoor buttplate which holds a cleaning kit and extra front sight blade.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 98% Griffin & Howe applied blue with a few tiny areas of spotting, minor handling evidence, a few small scratches in the wood, and sharp wood checkering. Mechanically excellent.
