Fine Silver Accented Knife with a Carved Antique Ivory Hilt - Measuring 13 5/8 inches overall, with a 7 3/8 inch single edged drop point blade that features a 3 inch false edge, nearly square languet, and an integral round bolster. The bolster is attached to an aged silver collar, which has a faint “STERLING” mark on one side and traces of an illegible inscription on the other. The hilt is sent into the collar, carved from a single piece of antique ivory with carved leafy scroll motifs and checkerboard panels, with blackened silver scrolls and dots accenting th pattern. The sheath is silver plated, with leaf and acorn motifs integrated into the belt hook, and engraved scrollwork and arrays of arms on the front and back. CONDITION: Fine. The blade shows some shallow pitting, minor spotting, a few edge nicks and minor handling marks. The silver components show a deep patina overall, with a lighter, mixed tone and some wear to what appears to be underlying German silver on the sheath and some weld marks on the collar. The grip is also fine, with an age crack forming in the underside and attractive color and grain overall. Provenance: The Dr. Gerald Klaz Collection.

It measures 18 1/2 inches overall and a 13 1/4 inch spear point blade with a set of spear point shaped triple fullers on each side, as well as an flower shaped maker’s mark on the outside of the blade. The hilt is extensively embellished with floral engraving, blued borders, and silver plating, the backside of the hilt smooth silver plated with blued inlaid borders and floral motifs. The same floral patterns and silver plating cover the entire outer surface of the included scabbard and the interior surface is smooth silver plated with blued borders and floral motifs. CONDITION: Very fine overall, the blade almost entirely bright apart from some speckled surface oxidation and light pitting near the tip, attractively aged silver and crisp engraving on the remaining metal with minimal wear. Attractive Engraved Silver Plated Caucasian Qama/”Cossack” Dagger with Scabbard - This is a masterfully crafted, lightly embellished example of a Caucasian style qama dagger, also commonly referred to as “Cossack” daggers, due to the famous horsemen regularly carrying them. This example, unlike many others, has the look of a weapon which was intended to actually be used, remaining lightly embellished and placing the emphasis on function over form. It measures 19 1/4 inches overall and a 14 1/4 inch spear point blade with the typical offset single fullers on each side. There is a faint maker’s mark on the outside of the blade that appears to be in Arabic. The hilt is fitted with nicely shaped dark brown horn grip scales with engraved and silver plated pin escutcheons on the outer panel. The included scabbard is leather wrapped with engraved and silver plated furniture featuring floral motifs, matching the hilt escutcheons. The backside of the scabbard has an added leather sheath (lighter brown) holding a smaller knife with a dark horn and bone grip. CONDITION: Very fine, the blade showing mostly bright with a few scattered patches of darker insignificant surface pitting, some evidence of light cleaning, attractive aged patina on the silver, most of which remains, and some hairline age cracks in the horn grip panels. Two Ornate Caucasian Style Qama/”Cossack” Daggers with Scabbards - This grouping includes two similarly embellished Caucasian style qama daggers, also commonly referred to as “Cossack” daggers, due to the famous horsemen regularly carrying them. 1) 18 inches overall, 13 3/8 inch blade with no fullers, extensive blued and silver plated engraved floral patterns on the hilt and scabbard. 2) 19 inches overall, 14 1/4 inch blade with triple fullers on both sides, deeply sunken Cyrillic maker’s mark on the outside transliterated to “Butaevie”, and extensive relief engraved floral patterns on the hilt and scabbard finished in contrasting blue and silver plating. CONDITION: Both are fine overall, showing an attractively aged patina with some scattered patches of light pitting on the blades, the blade of the non-fullered example slightly loose, crisp engraving throughout, and generally minimal wear.

Two Ornate Caucasian Style Qama/”Cossack” Daggers with Scabbards - This grouping includes two similar looking Caucasian style qama daggers, also commonly referred to as “Cossack” daggers, due to the famous horsemen regularly carrying them. Both of these examples have extensive engraving and silver inlays on both the hilts and scabbards, mostly featuring floral motifs. One of them has some rough markings on the blade, two of which may be an eagle stamp. One measures 17 1/8 inches overall and the other measures 17 inches overall. CONDITION: Both are fine the blades showing mostly a bright grey patina, darker on the marked example with some light pitting. The silver plating shows an attractively aged patina overall and most of it remains. Provenance: The Dr. Gerald Klaz Collection.
