Very Fine World War I German DWM Model 1914 Artillery
Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Snail Drum Magazine,
Shoulder Stock, and Holster Rig - Serial no. 7358A, 9 mm
Luger cal., 8 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. “1917” dated
chamber and “DWM” monogram on the toggle link. Blade front and tangent rear
sights. Three “crown” and gothic letter military proofs and an Imperial eagle firing
proof on the right of the extension, barrel and breech block. Except the magazine,
external serial numbers match. Checkered walnut grips and nickel magazine with wooden “GERMANY” marked base. Includes a board stock with number “4375a” marked on the attaching iron, “1916” dated leather holster, leather suspension rig, cleaning rod, combination tool, and snail drum magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% original blue finish with some light thinning on the barrel
and a few patches of minor freckling. Original straw colors remain 70% intact. Grips are also very fine with some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Included stock is fine, holster is good with an absent retainer on the flap, and drum magazine is very good with some scattered
light pitting.

DWM Commercial “Safe and Loaded”
Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no.
90241, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 3 3/4 inch round
bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Fixed sights, with a
blank chamber area, the front toggle marked with the
“DWM” logo, and the left side of the barrel extension, the underside
of the barrel and the left side of the toggle link all marked with the
commercial “Crown/N” proof mark. The front of the frame has the full
length serial number and “GERMANY” import mark, the upper safety
position is marked “SAFE”, the extractor marked “LOADED”, with the last digits
of the serial number repeated in the commercial pattern. Fitted with a pair of
checkered hardwood grips.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 97%
of the original blue finish, showing
a few small areas of gray patina,
bright edge wear, and mild spotting
and handling marks. 80% of the
original straw color is present on the
small parts, with some dings on the
otherwise excellent grips. Mechanically excellent.

DWM “Altered First Issue” Model 1906 Navy Luger Semi-
Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 5162A, 9 mm cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Originally manufactured in “First Issue” configuration, like many German Navy Luger pistols this example was reconfigured, with the safety altered to the “army” pattern. The lower safety position has been ground out, and a new “Gesichert” added to the upper position. Blade front and two-position notch rear sights, undated chamber, with a set of “crown” firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock, two “crown/M” stamps on the left side of the receiver and one on the underside of the barrel. “GELADEN” is marked on the extractor, with straw finished small parts, a pair of checkered grips, and a nickel finished magazine with an unmarked hardwood base. The backstrap is stamped “W.W./868” below the grip safety, suggesting issue from a naval depot in Wilhelmshaven.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 75% of the arsenal refurbished blue
finish, showing a mixed gray patina around the altered safety
markings and on the gripstraps, bright edge wear, and scattered
spotting and handling marks overall. The straw parts are turning
gray, with traces of bright color on the trigger. The grips are fine,
with some dings on the crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

DWM 1920/1921 Dual Date Police Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with Two Matching Magazines and Holster - Serial no. 437, 9 mm
cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured in 1921, this pistol is marked and equipped as a government inventory handgun
that was later seconded to law enforcement. Fixed sights, with “1920” hand stamped and “1921” factory stamped on top of the chamber, a circled “S” on
the left side, “DWM” on the toggle, and Weimar-era “eagle” inspection marks on the appropriate parts. A pair of police safeties installed, with the sear safety in good order and the magazine well safety partially present but disabled; a point of contention
among buyers and
users clear up to
the present day, a
disabled mag well
safety is a common
sight on Police Lugers.
The frontstrap bears two
unit markings, “Ma.403.”
and “S.D.I.1.18.”, with “403.”
stamped on the back of
the frame. The grip panels are unnumbered, otherwise the numbers are matching overall, including on both of the nickel finished alloy based magazines; neither magazine bears the “+” spare magazine mark used on German police pistols. Included with the lot is a 1936 dated police holster with “427” stamped on the back, extra matching magazine, and takedown tool numbered “537”.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing bright wear along the high edges, a mixed brown patina on the gripstraps, and mild spotting and handling marks overall. A few dings are visible on the receiver near the toggle lugs. 30% of the original bright straw color is present, with the remainder turned a mixed gray. The grips are good, with some dents and chips. The holster shows some lost stitching, with mold scuffing and verdigris buildup. Mechanically excellent.
