Rare Heckler & Koch PSG1 Semi-Automatic
Sniper Rifle with Scope, Case, and Accessories
- Serial no. 44-1887, 308 Win cal., 27 inch heavy round bbl., camouflage finish, synthetic stock.
Said to have been developed at the request of West German police units following the Munich Massacre at the
1972 Summer Olympics, where police units lacked the precision shooting ability to effectively neutralize the terrorists to prevent the hostages
from being killed. H&K was commissioned to create a high capacity, highly accurate, semi-automatic rifle for military and law enforcement use.
Based on the H&K G3 series of rifles with a 26 inch, heavyweight, free floating, stainless steel barrel with polygonal rifling, no provisions for
standard iron sights, low noise bolt closing device (similar to the forward assist on the AR-15). The receiver has integral scope bases with Hensoldt
PSG1 6x42 illuminated reticle scope, PSG 1 pattern trigger with adjustable shoe, and a properly serrated bolt carrier with a matching number
bolt. The magazine well is correctly marked “PSG1 44-1887” and dated “KF” (1995), contoured grip with adjustable palm shelf, and fixed polymer buttstock with adjustable comb and length of pull. The full rifle and scope have been painted in a tan, olive, and grey paint camouflage job. Includes plastic hard case with fitted interior containing an HK Loga system tripod with legs wrapped in twine and painted to match the gun. Per the consignor, this rifle was purchased by a private contractor as a gift for himself upon returning home from deployment in Iraq and has only had 600 rounds through it.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 95% custom camouflage finish with scattered high edge wear and handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with untested illuminator, damaged lense cap, clear optics and a crisp reticle.
Estimate: 18,000 - 25,000
