The top of the action shows a third scene with a single grouse in flight above the tall grass. This gun is pictured on page 383 of William Brophy’s “Marlin Firearms: A History of the Guns and the Company That Made Them”, on which he states the gun was engraved

CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish, 99% original gold inlay, scattered minor spotting, much of the blue loss on the magazine tube, and overall mild handling evidence. The forend is very fine and the stock is fine with a crack at the left stock head and chipped pistol grip, both have sharp checkering. The extra barrel is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
