This ‘49 Pocket was manufactured in 1868 and remains in very high condition. The Colt Model 1849 Pocket was Samuel Colt’s most popular percussion revolver design and the company’s most popular revolver in the 19th century. of having been popular with their owners as well, and relatively few were simply tucked away. This revolver appears to have rarely left its case since it left the factory. It has a brass cone front sight, “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA” on top of the barrel, the
stagecoach hold-up scene on the cylinder, “COLTS/PATENT” on the left side of the frame, “B” and “31 CAL” on the left side of the trigger guard, and matching serial numbers (loading lever unmarked). The fitted hardwood case has a pocket powder flask with the Great Seal of the U.S. themed design on one side, a cartridge pack, “31 PKT” and “COLT’S/PATENT” marked ball/bullet mold, L-shaped combination tool, Eley Bros. cap tin, and several balls and bullets.
