Early 18th Century W. Brazier Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss - NSN, 16 gauge, 13 7/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Per Blackmore, William Brazier was apprenticed to Edmund Weston in 1702 and was made free of the Gunmakers Co. in 1711, elected as an assistant in 1723, as master in 1730, had 28,844 guns proofed between 1721 and 1731 and was active until at least 1753. The three-stage barrel has a tapered flare to about 1 1/4 inches at the muzzle and is marked with Brazier’s “crown/WB” mark between the London proof and view marks on the upper left at the breech. The early “banana” profile lock is signed “W./BRAZIER” and has border engraving. The brass furniture includes floral and border engraving. The full-length stock has a raised plateau around the iron barrel tang and a swell at the entry pipe. CONDITION: Fine with mostly bright brass barrel and furniture with some aged patina, dark brown patina on the lock along with some minor pitting, and general mild wear. The re-oiled stock is also fine and has spliced repairs at the forend tip and general light scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 5,000 - 7,500
LOT 258 Fine William Shaw Flintlock Blunderbuss with Snap Bayonet - NSN, 8 gauge, 14 3/4 inch round bbl., brown/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This blunderbuss from c. 1813-1825 has an approximately 8 bore barrel that flares to 1 1/2 inches at the muzzle. The barrel is fitted with a folding bayonet and is marked with “MANCHESTER” on top and Birmingham proofs. The lock is marked “WM SHAW” and has light floral engraving, a stepped tail, sliding safety, and frizzen spring roller. The furniture is brass with floral engraving, including a pineapple finial on the trigger guard. CONDITION: Fine with dark brown patina on the iron, mild pitting, attractive aged patina on the brass furniture, and mild overall wear. The stock is very fine and has crisp checkering, mild dings and scratches, a few minor flakes, and some thin cracks at the breech on the left. The bayonet does not automatically latch when released, but the gun is otherwise mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

British Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss with Folding “Snap Bayonet” - NSN, 18 gauge, 14 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. The multi-stage barrel flares out to around 1 3/8 inches at the muzzle and is about 18 bore for most of the length and has Birmingham proofs flanking a “2/cat” maker’s mark on the upper left and “LONDON” marked
on top of the breech section. The lock has a frizzen spring roller, a sliding safety on the stepped tail, faint maker’s mark ending in “& Co” and light floral engraving. The furniture is brass and has some floral engraving, and the trigger guard has an acorn finial. The folding bayonet has a 10 3/4 inch triangular blade. CONDITION: Very good with mostly bright surfaces, buffed/pitted lock, some light patina, and generally mild overall wear. The ramrod is broken. The stock is also very good and has mild scratches and dents, a repair on the left side of the wrist, and some attractive grain. The bayonet latch needs some work. The lock is mechanically fine.

Engraved T. Richards Brass Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss with Unique German Silver Lock - NSN, 14 gauge, 17 7/8 inch half octagon bbl.,
bright finish, walnut stock. The attractive engraved German silver lock is marked “T./ RICHARDS” in two lines at the center and features a safety catch and roller frizzen. An oval
brass plaque with an eagle at top and an acorn at bottom adorns the top of the wrist. The barrel has two Birmingham proofs on the upper left flat. The barrel and fittings are all brass with floral and border engraving. The bore is estimated and flares out to 1 1/10 inches at the muzzle. CONDITION: Very good, exhibiting attractive bright surfaces and some scattered light peppering on the lightly polished brass components and German silver lock, and sharp markings and engraving overall. Stock is good with
