Highly Ornate Exhibition Grade Gold and Silver Inlaid, Game Scene Engraved, and Relief Carved K. Steiner Pinfire Double Barrel Shotgun - NSN, 28 gauge, 29 1/8 inch solid rib bbl., brown/silver/gold/casehardened finish, relief carved highly figured walnut stock. The smoothbore
  Damascus barrels have a
textured rib with a small bead front sight, a small marking that appears to be “28” on the right barrel at the breech, and silver bands at the breech. The back action locks are signed “K. STEINER” (right) and “KARLSTAHL” (left) in gold inlay. There is
extensive Germanic leafy scroll and game scene engraving throughout with gold accents. The game scenes include variety of European game animals, including deer, fox, boars, ibex, and chamois. The shotgun has two
triggers. The right trigger is a single set trigger. The lever and grip extension are horn. The buttstock has relief
scroll and floral carving and checkering on the wrist, nice figure on the butt, and a rounded cheekpiece.
CONDITION: Very good with distinct Damascus twist patterns on the barrels, aged patina on the silver bands, bright gold inlays, mostly smooth gray and brown patina throughout, distinct engraving, and minor oxidation. The stock is also very good and has distinct carving and checkering with some smoothing, moderate scrapes and dings on the butt, a splice/spacer at the butt, and attractive figure. Mechanically fine.

Engraved and Elaborate Relief Carved P. Lippold Back Action Percussion Jaeger Rifle - NSN, 58 cal., 28 7/8 inch octagon bbl., gray finish, walnut stock. This mid-19th century rifle is signed “P. LIPPOLD IN STETTIN” in gold on the top of the Damascus barrel within a silver inlaid border. Stettin is the German name for Szxzecin in present day Poland, then part of the Province of Pomerania in Prussia. The breech has a nicely sculpted bolster, silver band, and engraving that continues on the standing breech which also has some silver floral motifs. The back action lock has a hammer stall safety, scroll engraving, and silver inlaid deer. The furniture is German silver and features scroll and game animal engraving patterns. The stock has relief carved scrollwork bordering the checkering on the forend and wrist and raised relief carving of a scene with a stag and hind behind the cheekpiece. CONDITION: Very good with distinct Damascus patterns along the barrel, gray patina on the lock and barrel, crisp engraving, aged patina on the silver and German silver, and mild overall wear. The stock is also very good and has a removed forend cap, crisp checkering, a stabilized crack in the wrist, attractive figure and grain on the butt, and stunning raised relief carving. The forward wedge is absent. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000

Finely Engraved, Relief Carved, Gold Inlaid, John Donaghy Dutch Percussion Schuetzen Target Rifle - NSN, 45 cal., 30 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened/ gold finish, walnut stock. This mid-19th century target rifle by John Donaghy of Amsterdam has gold bands at the muzzle and breech, a windage adjustable globe front sight, “JOHN DONAGHY AMSTERDAM” signed on the rib, “John Donaghy Amsterdam” signed in a banner on the lock, ornate scroll engraving, adjustable double set triggers, an adjustable rear peep sight (disk absent), extended palm rest trigger guard, and nearly full-length stock with horn forend cap, relief scroll carving and checkering on the wrist, additional scroll carving behind the large cheekpiece, and an iron buttplate with a single long hook. CONDITION: Very good with bright gold inlaid bands, a mix of faded original finish and dark brown patina throughout, mild oxidation, repaired hammer, and general moderate age and storage related wear. The stock is also very good and has some loss on the forend cap, numerous scratches and dings, mostly crisp checkering and carving, and a few chips. The lock needs work (not locking up at half or full-cock). The set triggers are
