1840s pistols are
marked “ROPER/
HALIFAX” on the
upper tangs and
feature smoothbore
barrels, pierced
platinum plugs, concave ribs with bead front sights, notch rear sights, swivel mounted ramrods, scroll engraving, dual triggers, blank silver wrist escutcheons, finely checkered grips, and compartments in the pommels. The fitted hardwood case contains a cylindrical powder flask, cap tin, “WD” and “No 66” marked ball mold with integral nipple wrench and sprue cutter, and a wrench.
CONDITION: Very fine with 75% plus of the original case colors, nearly all of the original blue remaining on the under-rib, 50% original blue on the trigger guard and pommel cap, and general minor wear. The excellent grip has minor dings and scratches and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are very good with mild age and storage related wear.
B) Roper Double Barrel Pistol - NSN, 44 cal., 3 1/8 inch solid rib bbl., casehardened/blue finish, walnut grips. See “A.”
CONDITION: Very fine with 85% plus of the original casehardened finish, nearly all of the original blue on the under-rib, 80% original blue on the grip cap, 30% original blue on the trigger guard, crisp engraving, and general minor overall wear. The grip is excellent and has some minor marks and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

This attractive
pair of pistols
has smoothbore, Damascus barrels with silver bead front sights and “WILKINSON LONDON” signed on top, London proofs, notch rear sights, swivel mounted ramrods, belt hooks on the left side of the boxlock actions, sliding half-cock safeties, scroll engraving, small compartments in the pommel caps, silver wrist escutcheons, and finely checkered grips. They are in a fitted hardwood case with a James Wilkinson & Son trade label, cap tin, loading/cleaning rod with covered worm, jag, “No 20” marked ball mold, and a nipple wrench.
CONDITION: Vey good with most of the refinished brown remaining on the barrel, light Damascus patterns, worn muzzle engraving and proofs, minor pitting, bright refinished niter blue on the breech, belt hook, trigger guard, and safety; attractive aged patina on the silver escutcheon, gray patina on the balance, crisp engraving, minor oxidation, and general mild overall wear. The grip is fine and has mild wear on the otherwise crisp checkering and a small hole on the upper right. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are very good with age and storage related wear. B) Wilkerson Belt Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 5 1/8 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened/blue finish, walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good with most of the refinished brown remaining on the barrel, light Damascus patterns, worn muzzle engraving, bright refinished niter blue on the breech, belt hook, trigger guard, and safety; attractive aged patina on the silver escutcheon, gray patina on the balance, crisp engraving, minor oxidation and pitting, and general mild overall wear. The grip is fine and has mild wear on the otherwise crisp checkering, a few small flakes at the edges, and a thin crack at the toe. Mechanically excellent.

Cased Pair of Engraved Belgian Muff Pistols with Accessories -A) Belgian Percussion Pistol - Serial no. 640, 36 cal., 1 1/2 inch round bbl., bright finish, antique ivory grips. Produced without sights, with a cosmetic notch in the fence on the frame, an “E/LG/(star)” Liege proof on the left
side of the chamber, and scroll engraving
on the frame and folding trigger. Smooth
birds head grip, with raised teardrop panels
alongside the frame. With a purple velvet
lined hardwood case, decorated with a “M
C” initialed brass panel on the lid, carved
bone compartment handles, a combination
bullet mold/sprue cutter/barrel spanner/nipple wrench numbered to match the set, case key, and a small carved oil container.
CONDITION: Very good, showing some light spotting and a tiny amount of pitting on the bright metal. The grip is very good, with a thin crack on the left side, a small amount of space between the grip and the sides of the frame, and an attractive color and grain overall. The case is very good, with some light wear on the lining and scattered handling marks. Mechanically very good.
B) Belgian Percussion Pistol - Serial no. 640, 36 cal., 1 1/2 inch round bbl., bright finish, antique ivory grips. As A. CONDITION: Very good. The frame shows a small area of polishing on the underside near the lower tang, with a few light areas of spotting and a bright appearance overall. The grip is good, with some cracking at the wrist and attractive grain and color. Mechanically excellent.

grips. This pair
of pistols has
no markings aside from the scroll engraving. The Damascus barrels screw off using the wrench/key on the included ball mold. The ebony grips have compartments at the butts with shell shaped lids. The pair comes in a highly figured case with the noted mold, two turned containers, a couple of lead balls, and two keys. CONDITION: Very good with vibrant original case colors on the hammer, lighter case colors on the action, mostly brown patina and light Damascus patterns along the barrel, loose hammer screw, and mild age and storage related wear. The grip is very good and has some chipping at the toe and otherwise minimal light handling and storage marks. Mechanically needs work. The case is fair and has some absent pieces and mild overall wear. The accessories are very good with minimal age and storage related wear.
B) Boxlock Percussion Pistol - NSN, 48 cal., 3 5/8 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, ebony grips. See “A.”
