Steve Kamyk Signed Factory Master Engraved and Gold Inlaid Serial Number “MAGNUM4” Colt MKIV Series 80 Combat Commander Semi-Automatic Pistol with Tom Selleck Letter - Serial no. MAGNUM4, 45 ACP cal., 4 1/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, smooth grips. The included Tom Selleck letter states this pistol was part of a four gun set made for him by the Colt Custom Shop with the serial numbers “MAGNUM1” through “MAGNUM4” in reference to Selleck’s massively successful role starring as Thomas Magnum on Magnum P.I. This role saw Selleck, and his equally famous Ferrari 308 GTS, solving crimes in paradisiacal locations across Hawaii. The letter also states that for a short time this was Selleck’s carry gun, but that he retired it from that duty because he felt it was too nice for that kind of wear and tear. Also mentioned in the letter is that the pistols bearing “MAGNUM1”, “2”, and “3” from the set were donated to the NRA Firearms Museum and are on display. Thomas Magnum became an icon of the 1911 platform over the show’s eight seasons, making this beautiful Combat Commander seem like an obvious choice for Selleck’s daily carry gun. The pistol is fitted with gold bead front and fixed rear sights and an attractive set of smooth grips. The slide and frame feature 50% coverage masterfully executed floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background and gold inlaid serial number “MAGNUM4”. The left side of the frame under the grip is signed “Engr. By/S. KAMYK” for Colt Master Engraver Steve Kamyk.
CONDITION: Excellent as master engraved by Steve Kamyk and used by Tom Selleck as a carry gun, retaining 98% original blue finish with some holster type wear at the muzzle and crisp engraving. The grips are also excellent with a few typical age lines at the butt. Mechanically excellent. This a unique opportunity to own a factory engraved Colt Commander pistol. Provenance: The Tom Selleck Collection.
