    “Bottega dell’ Artigiano” gold inlaid on the left barrel, and 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) chamber with automatic ejectors. The grey finished sidelock action
displays beautiful deep chisel cut floral scroll and bestial designs with gold eyes carved at the fences
along with three fabulous engraved waterfowl scenes and extensive floral scroll engraving. The left lockplate shows ten ducks in the water, air, and on land, the underside has a trio of ducks in flight over a marsh scene, and the right lockplate shows four geese on land and four geese in flight over a pond scene. The trigger plate is signed “F. Lancini” to the right of the trigger guard for Italian Master Engraver Franco Lancini. The gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers, and a tang mounted manual safety switch with gold inlay around
the “SAFE”. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button release, and straight
grip stock with teardrop carved flats, blank gold inscription oval, and checkered bare butt. Included is an R. L. Wilson letter explaining the origins of this gun, stating the
gun was built for him in the style of a Purdey under the supervision of Lancini to show off the, at the time, underrated skills of the Italian firearms trade. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved and measured at 18.3 mm (.720 inches); choke constriction .023/.038 inches; minimum wall thickness .028/.034 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 4 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and grey finishes, a few minor handling marks mostly on the wood, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,000 - 9,000

Factory Engraved Famars Castore Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun - Serial no. 29330, 12 gauge, 28 7/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a single steel bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which has a flourish of scroll at the breech, “Armi Famars” marked on left barrel, import mark under forend, 1972 dated Italian proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with single extractor.
