Incredibly Rare and Desirable Trials German Mauser Model 93 SR Bolt Action Sniper Rifle - Serial no. 93001017, 300 Win
magnum cal., 25 inch round bbl., phosphate/green finish, metal stock, polymer grips. Offered here is an incredibly rare Mauser Model 93 SR rifle, one
of only approximately 120 manufactured in total between 1993-1997 in three different calibers including 7.62x51mm NATO (.308Win), .300 Winchester
Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum, with only 7 believed to be in civilian hands, and this .300 Winchester Magnum chambered example believed to
possibly be the ONLY Mauser Model SR93 rifle in private hands in the United States! This rifle is even rarer stateside than a comparable Walther WA2000
sniper rifle, of which only 15 of those are believed to be in the United States; Rock Island Auction Company previously sold an example of a WA2000 (auction 81, lot 1484) for $97,750 price realized.
This Mauser rifle platform was a revolutionary, “hold nothing back”, ground up design as a last gasp attempt to save the centuries old weapons manufacture by creating the ultimate state of the art sniper rifle in an effort to win German and NATO government contracts. It was originally designed to compete for the German Army’s G22 long range sniper rifle trials, in which it would ultimately be bested by Accuracy International’s AWM partly due to political pressure and cost. After the rifle’s initial defeat, Mauser focused on imports and seeking police contracts. The rifle would find some favor being adopted by Dutch and German special police forces. Ultimately, production of the Model 93 SR was killed off after the Mauser firm was purchased by Rheinmetall. The fully free floating barrel is fitted with a large muzzle brake/flash hider and marked on the left of the chamber with “KH” (1997) date code and caliber. The action is marked “Mod. 93 SR/MAUSER WERKE Obendorf GmbH” on the left with “Made in Germany” on the right above the GSI importer marking and features an integral scope mounting rail on top. The rifle features
a chromoly steel action with the bolt utilizing the proven Mauser two-lug design that also has the ability to be easily reversed for use by a left or right handed user without the use of tools, detachable box magazine, adjustable trigger, and is fit into a full length aluminum skeletal chassis system with polymer forend and grip, integral bipod, ambidextrous safety, ambidextrous magazine release, adjustable rear monopod, adjustable comb height, and adjustable length of pull.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% original phosphate and green finishes with some light handling marks mostly concentrated on the scope rail. Chassis is also excellent with limited handling marks and a couple spots of light surface oxidation on some of the hardware. Mechanically excellent. With this believed to be possibly the ONLY example of a trials Mauser Model 93 SR sniper rifle in the United States in private hands, this is likely a once in a lifetime
