Very Scarce Pre-World War II “S” Code Krieghoff Semi-Automatic Luger Pistol Rig with Two Matching Magazines - Serial no. 1988, 9 mm
cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish,
checkered hardwood grips. Manufactured in 1935/1936, as part of Germany’s clandestine re-armament program, being one
of only about 4000 made that year by Krieghoff for the Luftwaffe. Fixed sights, with the “S” date code on the chamber and the B-2
profile Krieghoff logo on the front toggle link; only seen on the early “S” date Lugers, the B-2 profile was only applied to about 2,500 pistols, only about 15%
of total production. A set of “eagle” and “eagle/2” military proofs are present on the barrel,
receiver, breechblock, right frame rail and multiple other parts, with the unnumbered barrel bearing the “8,82” internal
diameter mark. Overall finish is a correct high polish, commercial grade blue, with straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and springs, checkered grips and a pair of nickel finished magazines with alloy bases. The replacement extractor is numbered “22” and some
components (including the correct fat checkered wood grips) are unnumbered, otherwise numbers are matching overall, including the correct original magazines, both of which have “eagle/2” proofs and lack the “+” mark. The included holster is brown leather construction,
with a faint Lengefeld maker’s mark and Waffenamt stamp on the back next to “1987” (one digit off from the pistol), and an unmarked takedown tool. The back of the holster also bears a partially scratched out hand marking; surviving elements of the marking suggest the original GI who captured the pistol was with the 350th Infantry Regiment, a component of the 88th Division. The 88th spent most of its combat service in
Italy, seeing action at Anzio, the drive to Rome, and fighting in the Po Valley, ending the war in the Dolomite Alps. After the war, they performed duty securing the border between Italy and Yugoslavia while the full formal peace treaty between Italy and the Allies was penned.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 90% original blue finish, showing bright edge wear, mild spotting concentrated on the gripstraps, and light handling marks. 70% of the original straw color is present, with traces of niter blue. The grips are also very fine, with mild dents and handling marks. The holster is fair, with a number of scuffs, cracks and stains. Mechanically excellent.
  Estimate: 7,500 - 11,000

Excellent World War II “Mauser
Banner” German Police Luger
Semi-Automatic Pistol with
Matching Magazine - Serial no. 1759y,
9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue
finish, walnut checkered grips. This is an excellent example
of a very desirable Mauser Banner Police Luger pistol. The
top of the chamber area is stamped “1941” for the year of
manufacture with the large Mauser/Banner logo on the front
toggle. The eagle “L” Police stamp is located on the right side of
the receiver, with the commercial “eagle/N” commercial proofmarks
stamped on the left side of the receiver and the breechblock. The full
serial number is stamped on the front of the frame and the left side of
the barrel extension, with the last two digits of the serial number on the
various small parts. The pistol has a salt blue finish and checkered walnut grips, which are numbered 39 on the back side but still have the “Eagle 655” proofmarks. This pistol has one all blue “fxo” magazine that has a blued body and pinned aluminum base that has the pistol serial number (1759y) and the number “1”.
CONDITION: Excellent overall with 97% plus of the original blue finish and only very minor edge and high spot wear overall. Rare Reichsheer/ Wehrmacht Military Gauge and Tool Set
for the P.08
Luger Pistol
and K98 Mauser
Rifle - Marked
“Massgeratkasten/
fur P.08 und K.98”
(Measurement Device
Box for P.08 and K.98)
on the lid, this case
contains a set of
two removable trays
of measuring and
reaming tools, one
with tools specialized
for the P.08 Luger
semi-automatic pistol and one with tools for
the K.98 rifle. Several of the tools bear “Reichsheer”, along with electro-
pencil added Waffenamt inspection marks, suggesting the case was
part of the military inventory right around the end of the Weimar era and
the official rise to power of the Nazis. Some of the tools are also dated,
chiefly in the 1930s. The Luger tray contains 32 pieces, a mix of gauges
and reamers, along with a few inert cartridges. The K98 tray contains 24
pieces, similar to the Luger tray in contents, with two empty slots. A
metal frame for an inventory list is installed inside the lid, but no list is
included. A similar kit can be seen on page 717 of Goertz & Sturgess’s
“Pistole Parabellum” (volume 2).
CONDITION: Fine. Some minor spotting and handling marks can be
seen on some of the tools, which are overall bright and well kept. A
few gauges are missing (see above). The case shows wear appropriate
to age and travel. An essential but scarce piece of German military kit
which would enhance any collection of Weimar or WWII Luger pistols or Mauser rifles. Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500
