1917 and fielded in 1918, the
Model 1917, also known as the RSC
1917 (after the designers Ribeyrolles, Sutter
and Chauchat), was the first semi-automatic rifle
adopted by France. The RSC 1917 and subsequent RSC 1918 were phased out in the mid-20s after seeing service in
the Rif War, with the majority being stripped of their gas hardware and converted
to straight-pull repeaters (this example escaped this modification) for issue to colonial forces, often in North Africa. Additionally, a number found their
way into the hands of the German Volksturm as last-ditch weapons during World War II. Blade front and folding ladder rear sight, with a “MA T1917” marked barrel and “MA T Mle1917” marked receiver. Fitted with a numbers matching hardwood forend and straight wrist stock with a flat steel buttplate. All visible serial numbers are matching including the barrel, bolt, bolt charger and trigger. Replacement pin in front of trigger housing. Includes leather sling. CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% original blue finish with areas fading to smooth brown patina on the balance with some scattered light freckling. Wood is very good, with the forend arsenal refinished, with ith numerous scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500

Blade front and tangent rear sights, with a combined flash hider and bayonet lug unit integrated into the sight, “Swiss Cross and Shield” engraved on the receiver ring, and a set of integrally forged scope bases on the left side of the receiver. Matching serial numbers are present on the barrel, receiver, bolt, magazine and the scope, with the magazine also marked out “Zf.Kar.”, denoting use with a scoped rifle, and the scope marked “KERN AARAU/V=3.5/(view angle symbol)=75 0/00”. The scope is fitted with a set of integral claw bases, with a three-post reticle. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a folding
bipod just ahead of the magazine well, forearm grooves, checkered wrist, brown leather sling and a flat buttplate. Included with the rifle is a spare parts kit,
muzzle protector (for a different model rifle, not compatible) and a matching numbered scope case.
CONDITION: Extremely fine, with 85% plus original matte blue finish, showing some thinning to a gray patina on the barrel, high edge wear, and mild handling marks. The stock is excellent, with mild dents and scuffs. The optics are crisp, with some light handling marks on the scope tube and other accessories. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,000 - 7,000

Rare Documented Swiss/ Hammerli K31 Type International Match Rifle - Serial no. FK043, 7.5x55mm cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Hammerli factory letter noting approximately 100 of these were manufactured circa 1948 in a specific “FK” serial number prefix, numbered 1-100. Produced with Hammerli match grade Commercial rifle actions with standard weight Hammerli barrels (unfinished leftover military actions obtained from W+F Bern), akin to our U.S. Model 1903 National Match rifles. Probably intended for 300 Meter European International rifle matches. Receiver is marked “Hammerli/Lenzburg-Schweiz” with the serial number “FK043” on the left side and the side cocking handle/bolt. Special International Stutzer target rear sight, fully adjustable for windage and elevation, (with NO traditional barrel tangent sight) with an eight position eye-piece. Barrel fitted with a Hammerli/Anschutz type globe front sight. Since they were produced by the Hammerli factory on a very special order basis they were undoubtedly all hand built and assembled using the finest actions and match grade barrels. Fitted with a beautifully figured European walnut stock and matching (full length) hand guard with
barrel band sling swivel and sling bar. It has an all blued metal finish with a non-reflective finish on the receiver with the complete bolt assembly left in the white from the factory. CONDITION: Excellent plus with 99% of the original factory blued metal finish, showing no evidence of having been fired with the breech face still in the white. The stock and handguard are both excellent with most of the original factory varnish overall showing some minor handling marks from storage with a slightly heavier pressure mark on the lower right side below the sling swivel bar. Mechanically excellent. A rare rifle in excellent condition, perfect for match rifle shooting! Estimate: 3,250 - 5,000
