   LOT 1373
Excellent Colt M16A1 Selective Fire Rifle, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun, with Accessories - Serial no. 9547452, 5.56 mm cal., 14 inch round bbl., matte black finish, metal stock. Introduced
in 1967, the M16A1 (aka the Model 603) would be the standard issue rifle for the United States Army and Marine Corps until the 1980s. Developed from end-user feedback on the M16, the M16A1 introduced the “fenced” magazine catch to reduce the risk of accidentally ejecting the magazine during handling or movement, the forward assist upper receiver and bolt to help close a bolt that is obstructed by fouling or residue, and other minor adjustments. Post front and two-leaf peep rear sights, with an A1 flash hider on the “C MP CHROME BORE” marked barrel, ribbed round handguard, checkered pistol grip and 2-position telescoping buttstock. The upper receiver has the A1 pattern low profile casing deflector and an oval shaped forward assist, and the lower has a fenced magazine catch and right handed “SAFE”/”SEMI”/”AUTO” selector. A “C” marked full auto bolt carrier is installed, with an unmarked bolt head, both matte black finished. Included with the lot is a commercial hard case, M7 bayonet, black nylon sling and a blank firing adapter. Magazine absent. CONDITION: Excellent plus, with 99% plus original matte gray finish, showing some light scratches on the barrel (likely from bayonet use), oxidization on and in the flash hider, and scattered mild handling marks. The furniture is in equal condition. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. Estimate: 30,000 - 45,000
