4332 was among the final generation of fully transferable American machine guns, manufactured shortly before the Firearm Owners Protection Act (aka House Resolution 4332) went into effect making it among the last fully transferable machine guns manufactured in the United States. The
receiver is properly without the barrel ring and bolt restrictor block that would normally prevent installation of military configuration components, and the item is currently fitted with a military-contour SMG barrel, a smooth-sided bolt, an unmarked receiver cover with ratcheting cocking handle, and a full auto trigger group with “A R S” markings. The left side of the receiver bears both Group Industries and Vector Arms marking. Fitted with a ribbed plastic forearm and pistol grip set, an underfolding steel buttstock, and a canvas sling. Included with the lot are loading tools and a cased 45 ACP conversion kit for a semi-auto Action Arms/IMI Uzi Carbine.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% plus original matte black phosphate finish, showing minor handling marks overall. The furniture is also excellent, with a few light scratches. Mechanically excellent. American Arms International American 180 M2 Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. B01032, 22 LR cal., 17 inch round bbl., blue/black finish, synthetic stock. With aesthetic and mechanical parallels to both the U.S. Thompson submachine gun and weapons like the Lewis Gun, the American 180 M2 uses a top mounted spring loaded “platter” magazine to feed an open bolt selective fire mechanism, with aluminum receiver construction and lightweight wood-colored synthetic furniture. Capable of a 1200 RPM cyclic rate, the low recoil of the 22LR cartridge makes for a weapon that’s far easier to control (and far easier to feed, cost wise) than many automatic weapons. The 180 was evaluated by the U.S. Army for use in close combat; while unsuitable for general infantry use, within “knife fighting range” the 180’s extreme precision would allow multiple rounds to bore through a single point of armor or structure, giving a penetrating power beyond what one would expect from the humble Long Rifle cartridge. Blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with a set of protective wings and cooling fins on the barrel, non- reciprocating charging handle, grooved forearm, checkered pistol grip and quick-detachable buttstock. CONDITION: Excellent. The receiver shows 98% of the original black anodized finish, with some light handling marks, and the mixed numbered barrel retains 90% plus original blue, with areas of brown patina. The furniture is very good, with a few light scuffs and scratches. The magazine spring unit binds up during winding, otherwise mechanically excellent.
