CONDITION: Extremely fine. The barrel retains 75% of the original blue finish with minimal handling wear. The barrel edges are sharp; the legend is crisp. The brass receiver and crescent
buttplate have small amounts of the delicate silver-plated finish in protected areas. The brass receiver and buttplate have a very attractive, untouched patina. The factory scroll engraving is crisp. The rear sight retains 80% of the niter blue finish. Traces of fire blue are visible on protected areas of the lever. The trigger and hammer retain nearly all of the muted case colors. The
piano finished walnut stock is excellent and retains most of the original high polish finish. Wear is limited to a few scattered and very minor handling and storage marks. This is an outstanding example of a factory engraved New Haven Arms Co. Volcanic lever action carbine. Provenance: The Joe Marlin Hilliard Collection. Estimate: 40,000 - 60,000
