Very Fine Silver Mounted and Accented Flintlock Pistol with Relief Carved Stock - NSN, 56 cal., 9 3/4 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. The very attractive Damascus barrel is smoothbore and has sighting flats with leaf finials, silver inlaid fleurs- de-lis patterns, additional silver accents, a silver muzzle band with an integral blade front sight, and a sunken gold oval towards the breech similar to many maker’s marks. The tang is covered by a silver plate and has a folding notch rear sight. The rounded lock has no visible markings and has molded designs around the borders. The furniture is silver and also has simple borders. The stock has a mix of incised and raised relief carved designs and molding. The ramrod has a silver tip. CONDITION: Very fine with silver-gray patina and distinct patterns along the barrel, silver-gray patina on the lock, minimal light oxidation, light age darkened patina on the silver furniture, and generally minimal overall wear. The stock is also very fine and has crisp carving and molding, attractive figure, and some slight marks and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,750 - 4,250

J. Franck, Amsterdam Marked Double Barrel Flintlock Pistol -
NSN, 28 bore/.54 cal., 7 1/4 inch solid rib bbl., bright finish, checkered walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1810. The right lock is signed “J Franck” while the left has “Amsterdam.” The smoothbore, Damascus barrels have a concave rib with a blade front sight, an oval Liege proof and a round “*” mark on the left at the breech. The pistol also features a dished standing breech, frizzen spring rollers, brass furniture with floral engraving, and a full-length stock with checkered wrist and flared pommel. CONDITION: Fine with mostly gray patina on the locks and barrels, some minor pitting, attractive aged patina on the brass, and general mild overall wear. The stock is also fine and has crisp checkering, mild scratches, and minor edge wear. Mechanically fine.

Engraved and Relief Carved Lepage Percussion Dueling Pistols -A) Lepage Percussion Pistol - Serial no. 3433, 52 cal., 6 5/8 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This pair of mid-19th century dueling pistols has “LEPAGE (A) LIEGE” across the flats at the breech end of the barrels in silver inlay. Lepage Freres (Lepage brothers Charles and Alphonse) have been identified as registered with the Liege Proof House in 1857-1868. The smoothbore, Damascus barrels also have “1” and “2” respectively on top ahead of the silver inlays and dovetailed blade front sights. The underside of the barrels and the face of the standing breeches have the serial number. The locks and furniture have floral scroll engraving, and the stocks have raised relief scroll carving at the forend tips, finely checkered wrists, and flared pommels. CONDITION: Very good with gray and brown patina, crisp engraving, twist patterns along the barrel, bent nipple, and minor oxidation. The refinished stock is also very good and has moderate scratches and dings, mostly crisp checkering and carving, and a crack at the toe. Mechanically fine. B) Lepage Percussion Pistol - Serial no. 3433, 52 cal., 6 5/8 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, walnut stock. See “A.” CONDITION: Very good with gray and brown patina, distinct engraving, visible twist patterns along the barrel, and mild oxidation. The refinished stock is also very good and has distinct relief carving and checkering with some mild wear, and a minor chip at the pommel. Mechanically needs work (slips from full-cock). Engraved S. Scheidtogger Austrian Rifled Flintlock Horse Pistol -
NSN, 28 bore/.54 cal., 13 5/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Sebastian Scheidtogger of Salzburg, Austria, was active in 1720-1760. The two-stage barrel has seven-groove rifling, traces of a front sight blade, a “crown/W” mark, decorative bands at the transition point, “S SCHEIDTOGGER IN SALZBURG” signed on top, scroll engraving at the breech, and a dished rear sight on the tang. The lock is signed “SE: SCHEIDTOGGER/IN SALZBURG” and has scroll engraving, beveled edges, and a non-bridled pan. The pistol has an
adjustable single set trigger. The wrist escutcheon has a small rectangular slot, possibly for a removable shoulder stock. The furniture is brass with mainly scroll patterns. The escutcheon also has a ducal coronet. The stock has raised relief floral carving and molding. CONDITION: Very good with traces of original case colors on the lock, mostly gray and brown patina on the lock and barrel, some minor pitting, a repair in the cock at the neck, aged patina on the brass, and general mild overall wear. The stock is good and has chips at the toe, a splice at the front of the ramrod channel, minor crack near the forend tip, and a long split through the ramrod channel. Mechanically excellent. Pair of European Flintlock Horse Pistols with Relief Carved Stocks Brass Barrels and Locks -A) Flintlock Horse Pistol - NSN, 58 cal., 13 1/2 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This interesting pair of c. mid-18th century pistols are likely Dutch or Germanic in origin. While brass lock plates are fairly rare, this pair is particularly unusual in that even the cock and frizzen are brass. The later has a screw affixed battery face. The inside of the first pistol’s lock has a “crown/IA” marking. The smoothbore barrels have rounded blade front sights, chevron shaped designs ahead of the sighting flats at the breech, and iron tangs. The furniture is also brass. The sideplates feature pierced scroll and dolphin designs. The pommels have musicians on the sides and grotesque masks studs. The full-length stocks have attractive molding and scroll designs. CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged patina visible on the brass including red tones along the top of the barrel, a crack in the side plate at the front dolphin, and generally mild wear. The refinished stock is very good with some minor cracks and repairs, distinct carving and molding, and mild scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. B) Flintlock Horse Pistol - NSN, 58 cal., 13 1/2 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. See “A.” CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged patina visible on the brass including red tones along the top of the barrel and generally mild wear. The refinished stock is very good with some cracks and repairs concentrated in the forend, distinct carving and molding, and mild scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
