no. 1280, 28 gauge, 26 1/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue/bright coin finish, walnut stock. Building only some 25 guns a year, Fratelli Rizzini is among the most exclusive gunmakers in Italy, and pairs such as this are even more seldom seen. Blued steel barrels with a single nickel bead sight
on the flat matted tapered solid rib which is simply marked with a gold “1” at the base, “Flli. Rizzini” and “in Magno V. T.” hand cut into the right and left tubes respectively, 1975 dated Italian proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The bright coin finished scalloped boxlock action displays border engraving, floral engraving on the pivot pin, bolts, and screws, a gold inlaid “1” on the toplever, and “FLLI RIZZINI” in banners on either side. The gun is signed “A. BREGOLI INC.” for Italian Master Engraver Alfredo Bregoli. Alfredo Bregoli was at one point the Master Engraver for Beretta and oversaw all of the engraving on their high-end shotguns, truly a man at the top of his craft. The gun features a pair of triggers, a hand detachable inspection plate on the underside of the action, and a tang mounted manual safety switch with a gold inlaid “S”. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with lightly engraved bright finished fittings, including the Anson button release which is marked with a gold inlaid “1”, and straight grip stock with teardrop carved flats and a checkered bare butt. Includes a wood and leather takedown case that houses both guns, a pair of nickel snap caps, nickel canisters, a set of turnscrews, and cleaning tools.
