Rare Ithaca 12 Gauge New Ithaca Double Magnum Field Double
Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 500999, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl.,
blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This rare 12 gauge Magnum New
Ithaca Double was manufactured in 1942. The entire production of these guns in 12 gauge
was only 87, which is rare enough, but adding the Field Grade configuration of this gun takes
the production number down even lower to just 37 built, a truly rare bird. Single steel bead sight on the matted
solid rib, standard barrel markings, and the all important 3 inch chambers with a single extractor. The action displays
standard light border engraving and features double triggers and an automatic tang mounted safety switch. Plainly figured, multi-
point checkered forend and beautifully figured pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap and serrated buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .736/.735 inches; choke constriction .046/.047 inches; minimum wall thickness .029/.027 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 13 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 14 oz. CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 95% plus original blue and casehardened finishes with a few scattered areas showing light oxidation, vibrant case colors, light handling evidence, a chip at the toe of the buttplate, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 7,000 - 10,000
