Moran Brothers of Miles
City, Montana Colt Single Action Army Holster Rig -
This attractive western leather holster and cartridge money belt was manufactured circa 1885
by famed Miles City, Montana
saddlery Moran Brothers. The
holster and belt are marked
“MORAN BRO’S/MILES CITY,
M.T.” The holster fits a 4 3/4 inch
barrel Colt Single Action Army
revolver and features an open
top and a closed toe. Already well
accomplished saddle markers by
the time they opened their own
shop in 1879, brothers Thomas
and Hugh Moran are believed
have operated the first saddlery
in legendary cattle town Miles
City, Montana. Around 1895 the
brothers sold their business to Charles E. Coggshall.
CONDITION: Very fine as a well cared for late 19th century holster rig made by renown Montana saddlery Moran Brothers. The rig displays very well and makes for a sought after accessory to accompany a 4 3/4 inch barrel SAA.

Extremely Rare Box of Union Metallic Cartridge Company .45 Caliber Ammunition for a Colt Single Action Army Revolver - The box is red and blue tartan patterned with red seal band around the middle. The top of the lid has a yellow label with the image of a Colt Single Action Army revolver and black lettering, (see picture), which in part says that the 45 caliber ammunition is for the “Colt’s New Breech Loading Army Revolver” and that they were “Adopted by the United States Army for the Cavalry Service”. The red seal is marked “Colts Patent Fire Arms Manuf.” is script on one side and “These Cartridges are expressly adapted the .45 caliber / Colt’s New Breech Loading Army Revolver. They being / made according to our special directions / strongly recommend them for use in this arm.” and a small duplicate marking from the opposite side. The seal has been opened and seven cartridges are missing from a full box. The box is currently wrapped in plastic. CONDITION: Very fine. The box shows some corner and edge wear, some material loss, and
some light staining. There are pieces of the red seal absent with a strong 80% remaining. An exceptionally fine picture of .45 caliber ammunition for the Colt Single Action Army revolver. This is the ultimate accessory item for a black powder Colt Single Action Army Revolver!
