The casehardened boxlock action displays more of the exceptional scrollwork seen on the barrels along with relief engraved scroll on the fences and top of the action and three outstanding gold bordered relief gold inlaid game bird scenes. The inlays consist of a trio of Gambel’s quail on the left, a pair of teal ducks on the underside in flight, and a pair of grouse in flight on the right. The scrollwork extends to the toplever, both tangs with the lower having the serial number in gold, and the triggerguard which has another gold inlaid scene showing a quail in flight. The gun features double gold washed triggers and a tang mounted manual safety switch. The gun is signed beneath the toplever “W. KOLOUCH” for the above mentioned world renowned master engraver. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered semi-Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings and scroll carving in wedges of the shoe, the straight grip stock has more scroll at the flats and a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .619/.619 inches; choke constriction .000/.001 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.025 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 7 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as highly embellished by Master Engraver Walter Kolouch, retaining 99% blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 6,000 - 9,000
