Master Walter Kolouch Signed, Game Scene Engraved, and Gold Inlaid Upgraded Parker Brothers 28 Gauge VHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 239390, 28 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened/gold finish, walnut stock. Originally manufactured post 1934 during the Remington Era then subsequently masterfully embellished by one of the world’s finest engravers, Master Engraver Walter Kolouch. Blued Vulcan Steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted concave solid rib which bears the standard rib marking, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, a single gold band at either breech, 1 inch wedges of scroll at either muzzle, and 3 1/2 inch wedges of floral scrollwork at either breech ahead of the gold bands. The casehardened boxlock action displays more of the exceptional scrollwork seen on the barrels along with relief engraved scroll on the fences and top of the action and

three outstanding gold bordered relief gold inlaid game bird scenes. The inlays consist of a trio of grouse in flight on the left, a pair of doves on the underside, and a pair of woodcocks on the right side. The scrollwork extends to the toplever, both tangs with the lower having the serial number in gold, and the triggerguard which has another gold inlaid scene featuring a grouse in flight. The gun features double gold washed triggers and a tang mounted manual safety switch. The gun is signed beneath the toplever “W. KOLOUCH” for the above mentioned world renowned master engraver. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered semi-Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings and scroll carving in wedges of the shoe. The stock is of the same quality with more scroll at the flats and a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .553/.553 inches; choke constriction ..006/.005 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.026 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as beautifully embellished by Master Engraver
Walter Kolouch, retaining 99% blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence, some varnish thinning on the stock, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
