Master Walter Kolouch Signed, Game Scene Engraved, and Gold Inlaid Upgraded Parker Brothers VHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 178211, 12 gauge, 28 inch solid
rib bbl., blue/casehardened/gold finish, walnut stock. Originally manufactured in 1917 and subsequently masterfully embellished by one of the world’s finest engravers, Master Engraver Walter Kolouch. Blued Vulcan Steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted concave solid rib which bears the standard rib marking, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, a single gold band at either breech, 1 inch wedges of scroll at either muzzle, and 3 1/2 inch wedges of floral scrollwork at either breech ahead of the gold bands. The casehardened boxlock action displays more of the outstanding scrollwork seen on the barrels along with relief engraved scroll on the fences and top of the action and three outstanding gold bordered relief gold inlaid game scenes. The inlays consist of a pair of mallards taking flight off on the right side, a setter flushing a pheasant on the underside, and a pair of grouse in flight on the right side. The scrollwork extends to the toplever, both tangs with the lower having the serial number in gold, and the triggerguard which has another gold inlay showing a bust of a setter. The gun features double gold washed triggers and a tang mounted manual safety switch. The gun is signed beneath the toplever “W. KOLOUCH” for the above mentioned world renowned master engraver. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered semi-Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings. The stock is of the same quality with carved scroll at the flats and a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .736/.740 inches; choke constriction .007/.033 inches; minimum wall thickness .028/.025 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 1 15/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as beautifully embellished by Master Engraver Walter Kolouch, retaining 99% blue, casehardened, and gold
finishes with minor handling evidence
and sharp checkering on the stock and
