Engraved and Silver ounted Charles Pickfatt Flintlock Queen Anne Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 5 1/4 inch round bbl., bright/ silver finish, walnut grips. This classic c. 1740s “Queen Anne” pistol is signed “PICKFATT” ahead of the cock. Charles Pickfatt, son of Humphrey Pickfatt, is listed as free of the London Gunmakers Co. by patrimony in 1719. He was a contractor to the Board of Ordnance in 1727-1756 and to the Hudson Bay Co. in 1737- 1756 and retired in 1757. The pistol has an unmarked, smoothbore, multi-stage, cannon style barrel. There are London proofmarks and a maker’s mark on the bottom of the pistol under the trigger guard finial. The scroll pattern side plate, wrist escutcheon, and classic grotesque mask pommel cap are silver. The escutcheon is engraved with a hedgehog and torse. The stock has shaped drop flats and a raised relief carved trefoil design at the upper tang. CONDITION: Very good with attractive aged patina on the silver furniture, mostly mottled brown patina on the iron, mild pitting, and general mild overall wear mostly from age. The grip is also very good and has a crack along the toe, some minor flakes, and attractive carving and grain. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

Chadwick Boxlock Flintlock Turn-Off Pistols with Silver Wire Inlays and Silver Mask Caps -A) Chadwick Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 44 cal., 2 5/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut grips. The multi-stage, cannon barrels screw off and are smoothbore. The bottom of the actions at the breeches have Ordnance private proof marks. The right side of the actions have “LONDON” in banners, and the left sides have “CHADWICK” in banners. There is also scroll, floral, and border engraving. The grips have silver wire scroll inlays. The silver mask caps have scroll and shell accents, Birmingham hallmarks (no date code), and “CF” silversmith marks. CONDITION: Very good with aged patina on the silver, fairly bright brass, distinct engraving, and minor overall wear. The grip is also very good and has minor edge wear and light dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. B) Chadwick Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 44 cal., 2 3/4 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut grips. See “A.” CONDITION: Very good with aged patina on the silver, mostly bright brass, dark gray patina and some mild pitting on the iron, and minor overall wear. The grip is also very good and has a few pieces of replaced silver wire, light dings and scratches, and minor overall wear. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

Cased Pair of Gold Accented, Raised Relief Carved Double Barrel Flintlock Officer’s Pistols by Cassaigard of Nantes with Silver Furniture -A) Cassaigard Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 50 cal., 6 3/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/ gold/bright/silver finish, walnut stock. Allain Daubresse indicates the gunmaker Cassaignard (also spelled Cassagnard on some examples) was born in 1708 and died in 1786. The pistols have fire blued, smoothbore barrels have silver blade front sights and gold burst, scroll, and floral designs. The right locks are signed “Cassaignard” in ornate script while the left locks are signed “a Nantes.” The standing breeches have dished rear sights and are finished bright. The remaining furniture is silver and is decorated with case and relief chiseled patterns consisting of mainly floral and scroll motifs along with some classical martial accents and a mustachioed man on the pommel studs with gilt backgrounds. The full-length, figured walnut stocks have raised relief floral and scroll carving. The pair comes in a closely fitted case with a cleaning rod, several balls, a replacement flask, ball mold with sprue cutter, oiler, measure, combination turnscrew/wrench, and a few flints. CONDITION: Fine with 90% plus period refurbished blue remaining, 75% gold, mostly bright locks and standing breech with some mild oxidation, attractive aged patina on the silver, and mostly minor age and storage related wear, including some minor dents. The stock has a crack through the forend but is otherwise also very good and has crisp carving, light scratches and dings, small cracks at the tails of the locks, and nice figure. The left lock is not locking in full or half-cock position, but the right lock is mechanically fine. The case and accessories are also very good and have mild age and storage related wear, including some mothing and fading on the lining. B) Cassaignard Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 50 cal., 6 3/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/gold/bright/silver finish, walnut stock. See “A.” CONDITION: Fine with 75% plus period refurbished blue and gold finish on the barrels, mostly silver-gray on the locks and standing breech along with some light oxidation, attractive aged patina on the silver, and mild wear. The stock is also very good and has crisp checkering, general minor scratches and dings, some faint hairline cracks by the pommel tendrils, and mostly light handling and storage type wear. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

18th Century Pair of French Boxlock Flintlock Pocket Pistols with Brass Grips by Henraux of Givet -A) Henraux Pocket Pistol - NSN, 38 cal., 1 5/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, brass grips. Henraux of Givet, Ardennes, France, was active c. 1740-1760 per “Der Neue Stockel.” The pistols have rifled, multi-stage, cannon shaped barrels with lugs for removing them. The actions have “crown/V” and “crown/P” proofs on the bottoms at the breech flanking “I” shaped marks, “Henraux” on the right sides and “A Givet” on the left sides, and safeties that are activated by sliding the trigger guards forward and also secure the pans closed. The brass grips are engraved with stands of arms on the sides and floral designs on the backs. CONDITION: Good with mottled gray patina and some mild pitting, attractive aged patina on the brass grip, distinct markings and engraving, and mild overall wear. The trigger guard/safety mechanism is a bit loose, but the pistol is otherwise mechanically fine. B) Henraux Pocket Pistol - NSN, 38 cal., 1 5/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, brass grips. See “A.” CONDITION: Very good with distinct markings and engraving, mottled gray patina, aged patina on the brass, and general minor wear overall. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500
