Scarce Chinese M22 Selective Fire Rifle, Class III/ NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. N009718, 7.62x39 mm cal., 16 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood stock. A descendant of the famous AK-47 assault rifle, the M22 was the export model of the Chinese Type 56. Many of these rifles were imported into North Vietnam, for use by both the conventional North Vietnamese Army and formations like the Viet Kong. Hooded post front and tangent rear sights, with “M22” and the serial number on the left side of the receiver and “L/D” markings on the full auto and semi-auto selector positions. Matching numbers on the bolt and gas cylinder, with a renumbered to match bolt carrier and mixed recoil spring guide. Fitted with a smooth forearm and buttstock, checkered pistol grips, and a canvas sling. Included with the lot is an extra recoil spring assembly and an extra barrel with “CHINA” marked rear sight base. Magazine absent. CONDITION: Very fine, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, mild spotting, and scattered handling marks. The bolt carrier shows brown spotting and patina on much of the surface. The furniture is very good, with a number of scuffs, dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
