Very Attractive Documented Antique Special Order Winchester
Deluxe Model 1885 High Wall Single Shot Rifle in .38-55 W.C.F. with
Factory Letter - Serial no. 40464, 38-55 WCF cal., 30 inch part octagon bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1890, this is a very attractively
special ordered Winchester Model 1885 High Wall rifle that, as noted by the
consignor, has been professionally restored by Turnbull Restoration Co. The included
factory letter lists the rifle in .38-55 caliber with a No. 3 weight 30 inch half octagon
barrel, plain trigger, no rear sight seat, mid-range and wind gauge sights, and checkered pistol grip stock
with a Swiss cheekpiece. It also states that it was received at the warehouse on 2 August 1890 and shipped two
days later, as well as being returned and repaired on 7 April 1896. The two-line address and caliber marking are on
the upper flat of the barrel. The serial number is marked on the lower tang. It is fitted with a globe front sight and a tang
mounted mid-range peep sight. It is mounted with a finely figured, H-pattern checkered, Schnabel tip forearm with ebony
insert and a checkered pistol grip stock with an ebony insert and Swiss cheekpiece and nickeled buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally restored by Turnbull Restoration Company, retains 99% plus of the blue finish and
vibrant case colors with only the slightest handling marks. The replaced wood is also very fine with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Attractive Winchester Deluxe Style Model 1885 High Wall Single Shot Takedown Rifle in Desirable .38-55 W.C.F. - Serial no. 108342, 38-55 WCF cal., 30 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1909, there are Winchester factory oval proofs
on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The two-line address and patent dates, as well as the caliber marking, are offset on the upper
left of the barrel, and there are faint filled holes that were likely originally for mounting scope blocks. The three-line patent, model, and trademark information is marked
on the upper tang, and the serial number is on the lower tang. It is fitted with a combination front sight, filler in the rear sight dovetail, and a tang mounted peep sight. It is also fitted with double set
triggers. It is mounted with a finely figured, H-pattern checkered, Schnabel tip forearm with ebony insert and a checkered straight grip stock with a nickeled Swiss buttplate. The consignor notes that the
rifle was restored by Turnbull Restoration Co. in 2010.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally Turnbull Restoration Company restored, retains 99% plus of the blue finish and vibrant case colors with only the slightest handling marks overall. The replaced wood is also very fine with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Wayne Connor Collection.
