Excellent Documented San Francisco, California Shipped Colt Model 1877 Thunderer Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter and Box
- Serial no. 163021, 41 Long Colt cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1907. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address and “COLT. D.A. 41” stamped on the left side. The left side
of the frame has the three-line patent dates marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. It is fitted with a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colts at the tops. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) as well as sale to Pacific Hardware Co. of San Francisco, California and shipment to Brittain Hardware Co. (also of San Francisco, though not listed) on 4 April 1907. Includes a correctly labeled factory box with additional “WITH EJECTOR” label on the end, a cleaning rod, and a 1910 dated Pacific Hardware & Steel Co. invoice for structural piping.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original blue finish and 95% plus of the vibrant original case colors with some scattered light handling marks and light edge wear. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with some moderate fading, some minor tears, and a few repairs.
