CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% plus bright original blue finish with smooth brown patina on the balance, a few minor scratches, some light cycling wear, and sharp markings and edges in the metal. The wood is excellent with rich oil finish, a few light handling marks, and distinct grasping grooves and edges. Mechanically excellent. High condition, correct, World War I era Winchester Model 1897 trench shotguns rarely surface for public sale. This exceptional example would make an excellent addition to any U.S. military firearms collection!

Very Fine U.S. Springfield Armory National Match Pattern Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Sling - Serial no. 1231468, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Early production pattern with “SA/flaming bomb/10-21” marked on top of the barrel and a star gauge mark on the bottom face of the muzzle, as typically seen on National Match rifles made in this same time frame. The bolt body is polished bright, but un-numbered. The receiver rails are polished. It features a standard blade front sight and tangent rear sight with a polished face and no volley notch. Fitted in a straight grip “S” type stock with two reinforcing bolts. The left of the stock has a boxed “J.F.C.” inspection cartouche with a circled “P” proof on the underside behind the trigger guard, and fitted with a checkered steel buttplate.
Includes a faint “HARVEY WHEELER/1917” marked brown leather M1907 sling with brass hooks, one piece ribbed steel muzzle/front sight cover, and folding P.J. O’Hare rear sight cover. CONDITION: Very fine overall, with 85% plus original finish retained with moderate edge wear, cycling wear, handling marks, and light spotting, especially around the muzzle, butt, and barrel band. The revarnished stock is also very fine, with light handling marks, very crisp cartouche and firing proof, along with a rich and consistent oil finish. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500

Very Fine World War I U.S. Winchester Model 1917 Bolt Action Rifle with Sling - Serial no. 110059, 30-06 Springfield cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Despite being born from a British design, the U.S. Model 1917 was the service rifle most used by infantrymen of the American Expeditionary Force throughout World War I, and continued to see use up through World War II, making original unaltered examples a rarity. The barrel is marked “W/flaming bomb/11-18” with winged fixed blade front and elevation adjustable ladder peep rear sights, standard
receiver markings, and “circled star” and “flaming bomb” proofs on the left receiver wall. With correct “flaming bomb” and “W” stamped, “NS” marked nickel steel bolt. Fitted with “eagle head/500” and “W” stamped pistol grip stock with flat steel trapdoor buttplate. Includes a “HOYT/1918/J.J.M.” marked M1907 leather sling. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 85% plus original blue finish with moderate edge wear, scattered spotting, and finish loss on the bolt handle, magazine floor plate, and buttplate. The very fine reoiled stock shows minor scattered dings and crisp finger grasping grooves. Mechanically excellent. The sling is fine.
