Excellent Documented U.S.
Navy Shipped World War
II Colt Model 1908 Pocket
Hammerless .380 Semi-
Automatic Pistol with Factory
Letter - Serial no. 134935, 380
ACP cal., 3 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1944, this is one of only 3,113 Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless pistols purchased by the Ordnance department in 1944-1945, and one of only 1,055 of the pistols received by the U.S. Navy. The majority of
these pistols were issued to the Office of
Naval Intelligence. The navy experienced
malfunctions with some of the pocket
automatic pistols, and the pistols were
returned to Colt between April and June
1945 for testing. The tests determined that
the malfunctions were caused by ejectors,
extractors and bent magazine lips. The returned pistols were modified by Colt and stamped with “M” in front of the serial number, with this example having not received the modification. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed), as well as sale to the U.S. government and shipment to the Naval Supply Depot in Norfolk, Virginia
on 14 June 1944, in a shipment of 300 guns. The left side of the slide is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates, followed by the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side of the slide is marked with the two-line caliber marking. The left side of the frame has the serial number, while the right has the U.S. property marking. It has blade and notch sights and is fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with
Colt medallions.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original blue finish with some
very faint wear on leading edges and couple small patches of light surface
pitting and light handling marks on the rear of the frame/slide. The grips are
also excellent with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A rare opportunity to own a Colt Model 1908 pistol that was likely issued to the Office of Naval Intelligence! Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000

Exceptional
U.S. Case V-42 Stiletto
Fighting Knife with Sheath - A descendant of the Fairbairn-Sykes combat knife, the V-42
Stiletto was designed with input from members of the First Special Service Force, the joint
American/Canadian arctic and mountain warfare unit that is considered one of the forefathers
of modern American Special Forces. Due to FSSF’s original conception as an alpine warfare
unit, the V-42 was bundled with a signature “long drop” sheath, designed to clear the bottom
of a military-issue parka while worn on the belt. Overall, the stiletto measures 12 1/2 inches,
with a 7 inch blade featuring a needle point and hollow ground edges, along with the “thumb
print” oval panel over the “CASE” marking. A slight upturn can be seen in the guard, with a leather grip and blued steel “skull crusher” pommel. Original brown leather long drop sheath is included, with staple-reinforced mouth and edges, along with a black box. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine overall, retains 90% original blue finish with sharp edges, and some light handling marks in the grip with defined serrations. Included sheath is very fine.
Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
Excellent World War II Early Blade-Marked U.S. Imperial M3 Fighting Knife with M6 Sheath - Manufactured in 1943, this M3 fighting knife has the early maker’s mark “US M3 IMPERIAL 1943” on the right side of the blade. Seen on the earliest production M3 knives, the blade marking was eliminated due to fears that the stamp might have some negative impact on the blade, leading to the more common marking on the guard. Measuring 11 3/4 inches overall, with a 6 7/8 inch spear point blade, gray phosphate finish, unmarked thumbrest counter guard, ribbed leather washer grip and a flaming bomb stamped on the pommel. With a steel reinforced brown leather sheath stamped “U.S. M6/MILSCO/1943” above a flaming bomb on the front and handwritten name “DOWD” in black ink above a number on the back. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retains 98% original gray phosphate finish with sharp edges. Included sheath is also excellent.
Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500
