World War II Deluxe Factory Engraved and Gold Plated Walther Model PP Semi-Automatic Pistol
with Holster - Serial no. 215370P, 7.65 mm auto cal., 3 7/8 inch round bbl., gold finish, antique ivory grips.
This 1941 World War II production Walther PP semi-automatic pistol features nearly full coverage exhibition
presentation semi-relief Walther deluxe factory engraving with dense punch-backed oak leaf motifs, gold plated finish and two-piece antique ivory grips.
A factory embellished pistol such as this would have been intended for presentation to a high ranking German officer. The pistol is fully covered with relief engraving that extends to barrel chamber, sides of the trigger, bottom of the back strap, magazine floor plate, safety lever and grip screw. The pistol exhibits
a set of “eagle/N” proofmarks and the Walther factory markings in raised relief banners that consist of “Walther” next to the two-line legend “Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (Thur.)/Walther’s Patent Cal. 7,65 m/m” and “Mod. PP”, serial number “215370 P” in a vertical panel on the right of the frame, a stippled sight rib, cartridge indicator pin, and 60 degree safety lever and magazine release on the side of the frame. The magazine has a gold-plated finish and is marked with the Walther Banner above “PP 7,65 m/m” on the left above the floor plate. Other examples of similar factory engraved presentation Walther PP and PPK pistols, with some tied to noted high ranking SS individuals, are pictured in “Walther Volume II” by James L. Rankin. Includes a brown leather DRGM Walther PP holster with the name and service number “Col. Leslie L. Nunn/O-213016” handwritten underneath the flap.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 60% plus of the attractive original gold plated finish with some wear on the contact points of the slide and frame, and silver-brown patina on the balance. The deluxe factory engraving and markings remain sharp overall. The antique ivory grips are in fine condition and are slightly yellow with age. The magazine retains 50% of the gold plated finish. Mechanically excellent. Included holster is excellent.
